A friend of mine has a 2001 LX470, and he wants to replace the AHC with coil spring. Can he order Toyota Coil spring with OEM shocks and call it for the day, or he has to do more? Also, does he has to replace the Tbars?

I replaced mine......and pretty much as stated....remove all shocks, remove coils, replace torsion bars. Then how much of the old stuff you rip out and off vehicle is up to you. I removed everything....resevoir and pump, hard lines, globes, sensors, etc. Only parts left are in the rear frame that I could not get to but cut the braided hydraulic line flush with frame exit and called it a day.

then park in grass and drive it around a lot for first few days to keep from dripping any remaining fluid out. Can save almost 75lbs I would bet with removing all that stuff. Also is list of fuzes and relays to pull to nullify lights....on my 2000 i only have one light flashing and it is AHC light on dash...I ignore it but one day will remove bulb or black it out. :)

I have some comments on this in my build thread from doing my own last year or year before...whenever it was. :)

They are wrong and dont know what the hell they are talking about. Same damn frames and trucks...period.

I ordered LC suspension from Ironman....fit PERFECT with no modification other than removing the whole damn AHC.

Install them and then go to that dealership and ask them to come out so you can school them....they are idiots. Show them a picture of mine....2000 LX470 with AHC removed and LC suspension installed for past 18 months.

I had the same with my Hilux Surf, which is similar to the 4Runner.
According Toyota the 4Runner parts wouldn't fit the Surf. I always told them the partnumber I needed without telling them for which car it was.

Hi all,
Im looking around for a suitable 100 series or LX470 at present (petrol landcruisers are not that popular here).

If I find a good LX that has AHC issues I will swap to coils & shocks - but am curious about the need to replace the rear sway bar mentioned below.

Is the LX sway bar (if it exists!) not up to the task?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I live way out of town and to view an LX is some hours drive away so doing all the homework I can before hand.

The knowledge here is amazing - thanks in advance!

Cheers

2001 LX470 AHC to LC Suspension Parts List

Here's a parts list, and yes everything from the Land Cruiser fits just fine;

Rear Suspension:
(snip)
(1) 48805-60060 Rear Sway Bar
(2) 48815-60140 Sway Bar Bushings
(4) 48817-30010 Sway Bar Cushions
(snip)

The good folks at slee offroad looked confused when I asked about changing out the rear sway bar...said they never swap the sway on the conversions they do. I'm still on the stock sway with the spring conversion on my lx and it rides really nice. So...I would say the lx sway is up for it!
