Love that 'Cardboard Creeper'.

Had to use those before in emergencies. :wrench:

Hi, Seeing all those extensions on reminded me of the old days and the wobbling . I've got some 2 and 3 foot extensions now. Check estate sales I've picked up expensive tools for almost nothing over the years. I never could afford all new tools but there are a lot of good used American made tools out there. Nothing on a car is 30 minutes because when your in there you find something else. That needs work too. Mike

Had a real time of this today...flex-head ratchet did it for me, got to the top bolt with a deep socket (take connections off first and move em out the way) and can't remember on the bottom but it was a real PITA. Could not get a torque wrench in there to get them to 29 ft-lb but did what I could. Also learned that a super short 1/4" ratchet is your best friend once you've cracked them loose.

Wonder how they do these at shops? I removed the dipstick bolt but that did nothing...removing the brake line bracket gave just enough wiggle room to get the old starter out and new in.

Oh, but according to the know it alls here, it only takes 30 minutes to swap a starter.........

I'd say 20 minutes :hillbilly:

I was very surprised how quickly I was able to swap one out recently.
Mine is RHD, so no brake system in the way.

A couple of long 3/8 extensions and wobbly socket makes it easy.
