This is a very cool idea. So do you now screw the base to the inserts? Or do you glue these to the base and drill an access hole in the base either way this keep the base complete smooth which is what I was wanting to do.3/4” pieces of plywood fit nicely after you remove the factory tie downs. The bolts are M6-1.00 and the heads are fairly thin so they don't really hang up on anything.

I used a couple extra pieces I had left over and they level the seat out with the box.
The gap doesn’t bother us with my mattress’s.
The spacers fit in the drawers and don’t take up much room.View attachment 2272530
