I used the tie down nuts in the floor to bolt in down.
Thanks! This looks like what I am working on... Did you just counter sink the bolt head to not interfere?

I took a pic, not the best but you can see one of them.

Nice job! I cut all my pieces today and before I assemble it wanted to get a clear picture of how to bolt it down.

3/4” pieces of plywood fit nicely after you remove the factory tie downs. The bolts are M6-1.00 and the heads are fairly thin so they don't really hang up on anything.

This is a very cool idea. So do you now screw the base to the inserts? Or do you glue these to the base and drill an access hole in the base either way this keep the base complete smooth which is what I was wanting to do.

getting there...

I used a couple extra pieces I had left over and they level the seat out with the box.
The gap doesn’t bother us with my mattress’s.
The spacers fit in the drawers and don’t take up much room.

Nice. 👍 My wife is too picky a sleeper for any gaps. LOL
I will have to fashion a way to keep it in the channel so that it won't slide out if kicked.
Also still working on the side panels. I got some piano hinges and will use those to make it more accessible. But they will need some support added to keep them level as well.
I ordered some d-rings for tie downs too...

I done something similar in or fj cruiser when we took the back seats out to make a sleeping platform. I used two of those U’s turned to hook them self’s. I drilled bigger holes to get the screws in wood.

I drilled each of the four spacers with a 1/4" bit. You can drill them larger to make it easier to align when installing the base. The spacers fit snuggly into the carpet and I just leave them there.

That's genius! Thanks

When I had my 62 I put a Tuffy Security drawer system from a TJ in the back for tools and storage. It wasn't an exact fit and a while back but what do remember it was all steel and a quality product. I looked them up and they don't have much for a GX but they have a few it things and I'm sure they offer something that might work
Might be worth a look
Cheers Baja Charlie

@yeos got it so the bolt still goes through the bottom of the drawers. I’m just going to copy your setup for the mount. Thanks!

@landwagon Your seat prop idea is perfect! I just modified it to still fill the gap much less cumbersome now.
More progress...

Am i crazy or did i see a setup where someone fabricated a frame that locked into the third row seat brackets? Maybe it was on a different site :(

Mountain Passes Offroad aka Steve Foltz. He is the one that has a nice design for that.

3/4" ply covered in speaker carpet, 1/2" ply for the "floor" piece that is secured to factory tie down points, recessed tie downs, and cabinet magnets to keep drawer and side hatches from rattling. Angled forward section so second row seats can recline and recovery boards have a spot to slide into. Side compartments house air compressor, tools, recovery, towing, and emergency gear. Center drawer for any other larger misc stuff I want to keep covered, as well as my fire extinguisher now. The whole platform sits level with to back seats when folded down and 3rd row seat mounts.

@NJGX Where did you get those flush tie downs? Great looking setup!
