Has anyone relocated the low hanging ac reciever drier on the driver side? Seems really low.

yes, cut out from a early r12 truck and spliced into the lines, i tig welded it in, others have used compression fittings.

There's also this thread. People have put together kits to do this in the past. The specific post I linked was discussing getting enough kits together to make it cost effective for the person who had been doing it. Unfortunately, the post author hasn't been on since August and the person who was building the kits hasn't been seen since July.

Anyone less busy (and / or lazy ;) ) than I am want to put together a kit and sell it to some of us? I'm perfectly capable of doing it, but I'm working WAY too many hours at the moment. I just want to have the kit on the shelf so that when work slows down this winter, maybe I'll have time to actually install it.

Well I managed to move mine up quite a bit just being really careful bending the tubes.
However, as you can see it now occupies the space where the marker light is supposed to go.
I did come up with a "fix" but it was pretty invasive.
I hacked a big semi-circular shaped bit out of the marker light.
then 3D printed a similar shape and glued it in place

I actually cut a piece of beer can and stuck it to the inside it try to maintain a little bit of reflective surface.

I eventually switched to LED marker lights and had to do the whole thing over again but I did not have to worry about the reflectivity so i just glued the 3D printed part in and called it good.

Both times I did scuff up the printed part and the housing and used 3m panel bond to hold it in place.
You'd probably break the housing or the printed part before that glues separates

Not suggesting this is what I would necessarily do, but I think Dissent is pretty well regarded and has probably done this on a bunch of installs. Certainly a cheaper option and doesn't require discharging the system.

I'm sure the consensus will be that the drier is not designed to operate in that orientation but again, sometimes these things just work better than expected and we could all use some simple victories when working in old Land Cruisers.

That's where mine in currently. I converted the corner lights to dual filament bulbs, so they're combo marker / signal lights and I don't have anything in the original marker currently. I consider it a temporary fix.

I've got mine bent so it sits horizontally with zero ill effects. Yes, they're designed to be operated vertically I know. It was still blowing ice cubes at me all summer so....

This photo was during turbo/IC install. The receiver drier has been secured to the radiator support with that bracket and has not been an issue at all.

If I understand correctly, the potential issue with that is liquid refrigerant finding its way to the expansion valve. If it's working, great. If it ever starts freezing up, you know where to start looking.
