Are you me? Mine says the exact same thing. But I also have a 60 that I’ve put way more money into that I bought it for. I keep telling her, I love my old dumb cars.
I got mine the exact brand new car she wanted, and her dream house. After 12 years of marriage we've realized to tolerate the things that make each other happy. I'm glad your wife tolerates your addiction as well :).

Non-nav conversion is not off to a good start.

Here is what I ordered from 24/7 Spares (they several of the 773 units on their website, I picked the nicest one, although some were rough):

Here is what arrived today in a FedEx box from the UAE:

I've contacted them and will report back on how this is resolved. Totally possible it's an honest mistake. A lot of folks seem to have gotten these though 24/7 Spares so they appeared reputable. Luckily I've yet to order any other parts, and will hold off until I have a working set of controls that aren't worn to crap.

Dat don’t look like the picture!

I woke up this morning to an apologetic email in my inbox from 247 Spares with a return label attached. Apparently they forgot to swap out the picture when they listed this item. Certainly seems like an honest mistake, and they worked to immediately rectify it, which is all anyone can ask for in a business transaction.

But, I still need a set of 88650-60773 HVAC controls! I'll keep watching 247 Spares and car-part.com. It looks like the other set listed by ~8 or so salvage yards on car-part is still posted, so I'll call a more local yard and see if I can get some pictures of it. My PX6 is still workable in the meantime (floor heat works if I close the dash vents manually) and I do plan to re-foam the old ML speakers around Christmas.

Called the local yard specializing in imports this morning. They confirmed the unit listed on Car-Part.com (1 of 1 in the US) is indeed available, so I put a refundable deposit on it and they're getting it shipped in. Total cost is $675 plus tax. I'm hopeful this is both 1) an actual 60773 unit and 2) is in good condition. This is a bit of a leap of faith as I'm presuming the part number based on the build date for the salvage GX (May 2006), a very grainy photo of the interior/dash, and the fact that the salvage GX only has 148K miles on it.

Other uncertainties will be if it includes the trim/cover panel and mounting brackets. I've confirmed the trim/cover is still available new from Lexus for ~$100, while 60773 brackets are 2006+ specific and NLA from Lexus. However the 2003-2005 brackets are still made (~$60 a pair), and it looks like the only difference between the 2006+ and 2003-2005 brackets is the location of 1 hole. I'll template/photograph the 2006+ brackets I have in my possession before shipping them back so I can purchase and modify a set of 2003-2005 brackets if needed.

in regards to Joying HU, I would add that the native apps works best if you add a SIM card to it for cellular connectivity. I use Google Fi for my carrier, and get a free Data Only SIM card. Check with your carrier.

I'm all caught up on your thread. Good stuff the whole way!
I'm curious what you will find/change/improve in your non-nav swap. I've given up until I can find the '03 ML amp pin diagram. I'm also suspicious that I need to tap 2 more wires to get the steering wheel controls to work (axxess aswc-1), but so far no one has verified my suspicions.

One thing that bugs me about mine is that it had some sort of mild front end collision at some point. The hood/grill look like crap, and even worse is that the top radiator support is bent and deformed in a couple of places. This part might still be available, but it's a welded in piece and changing it would be quite the task.

I may go way out of task order and try and get a new dash. Mine is pretty rough. I think another member posted in your dash thread or their own thread with a picture of a dash worse than mine, but only by 3-4 cracks.

Oh, regarding brackets; even on my year-to-year matching brackets, I couldn't figure out how a couple of the wiring harness brackets were supposed to mount as the orientation didn't make any sense. I ended up using an oscillating tool to cut the expansion pin off of one retainer clip and zip tied that section to something else inside the inner dash system.

With the Joying, the steering wheel controls work with the plug n play harness provided

The dash replacement is not too bad honestly. Lexus is still selling them for around $600, and next week is probably a good time to grab one at a discount. They won't make them forever, to be honest I'm surprised they have made them this long as the last GX rolled off the assembly line about 16 years ago. I'm half tempted to stockpile a bunch of them for future resale...investments, right? :)

I'll definitely post updates as I get the non-nav conversion in. I'm about 90% sold on a Joying head unit, but I'm not going to order one until I have a set of verified, known-working non-nav HVAC controls.

Picked up a few small items on Black Friday sales over the past few days. All of this will be installed over the holidays. I was eyeing a better set of skids, but at only a 5% discount from RCI, they'll wait for a Memorial Day 2026 sale (same goes for bumpers and a winch).

^New ML front passenger tweeter ($100 and I figured it'll be better than hacking up the OEM tweeter mount and door panel to mount a cheap replacement tweeter).

^Ironman rear FCP rebuild kit. The Fuchs Titan and Shell Tellus hydraulic fluids Ironman recommends are not available in the US outside of a 5-gallon bucket. So I grabbed a couple bottles of Japanese-made KYB-01M motorcycle fork oil, which is very close to the specs of the recommended Fuchs and Shell oils.

The local yard received the 773 HVAC controls today and texted me this pic.....

I did a search during lunch and found that all the missing parts appear to be available new from Lexus, and they agreed to knock $250 off the price ($425 total). Otherwise, the unit actually looks pretty good (much better than anything on 247 spares right now), and having it in a new bezel with a new glass and a couple new buttons should spruce it up even more. I'll also try to repair the broken mounting ear on the left side with some plastic epoxy.

Here is what I ordered today - everything came from Bell Lexus other than the "OFF" button, which I got form LexusPartsNow.com (they listed one, everyone else had it as NLA - I'm hoping they actually have one as it will be a pain to find otherwise).

INSTURMENT PANEL TRIM PANEL, $95.56, 5541260260 (this is the plastic surround that the controls go into)
KNOB, HEATER CONTROL, $11.67, 5590560700 (this is the "AUTO" button)
ORNAMENT, CLOCK, $29.61, 8391160010 (this is the glass cover over the LCD board)
Radio Bracket, $32.95, 8621160170
Radio Bracket, $32.95, 8621260170
KNOB SUB-ASSY, CONTR, $11.08, 55905-60690 (this is the "OFF" button)

Slight correction for my non-nav saga this AM. After some more reading on this forum I determined the 5541260260 trim panel is actually for a Nav GX, and the non-nav trim panel is discontinued, so I asked Bell Lexus to remove that part from my order. The Lexus parts websites are misleading as they show both the nav and non-nav panels with the same part number.

So, I picked up the equivalent Prado 120 panel (55412-60240) on eBay for $71 shipped from Partslane in the UAE. As far as I can tell, the only difference is the panel is bare plastic as opposed to the painted Lexus version. Hopefully that holds, if not I'll modify the panel so it fits. I'm also not sure yet if I'll paint it grey to match my other interior pieces or leave it black.

Earlier in this saga I considered sourcing a set of Prado 120 non-nav controls from Australia (there are a lot on eBay.com.au and they aren't expensive), but the tariff situation has made shipping small parts to the US almost impossible. And, the controls would have been reversed and in Celsius.

Had a nice Black Friday in the woods with my Jeep buddy. It had been way, way too long since we ventured out. I'm pretty lucky to live where I live as these trails are <1 hour from my house!

^Start of the day.
20251128_115529.webp

^Pretty nasty piece of trail to get down to this locals-only spot, but totally worth it.
20251128_125144.webp

^Snaking our way back up for the woods. The pics to not do this hill justice - it is super, super steep, and I needed to use my rear locker in one spot. This trail was harder than anything we did in CO in 2024.
20251128_150157.webp

^About a 10 minute hike from the end of Trail 2. There are many places here in the Ozarks that feel very non-Missouri....this is one of them.
20251128_154847.webp

^End of Trail 3. One of the top-two views in the entire state.

20251128_155407 (1).webp

^Last stop of the day. Again, pics don't do the steepness justice. A few wrong moves and you're going over a 400 ft tall bluff.
20251128_160814.webp

^Much of the day was snaking through trees. This one was about 2" from my folded mirror. This is where the 74" width of the GX470 (0.3" more than my buddy's JK) really shines. A bigger Yota would simply not fit through these trails. The LC200 and all TNGA-F rigs (4Runner, LC250, GX550) are a whopping 78" wide. They would have either taken body damage, or this (and many other) trees would have needed to be sacrificed.
20251128_160816.webp

^At the same time, this big white oak was just 2-3" from my fender on the other side....
20251128_162655.webp

^Brought my chainsaw and other gear along, and I did clear out one of the sketchier sections of trail. Had to get creative storing a saw inside the GX :).
20251128_171543.webp

^Heading down the first trail, I got hung up....pretty bad. Went over a rock and this frame stabilizer tube caught it. Despite engaging my lockers, all 4 wheels spun while the GX didn't move. My buddy spotted me off if it. I might have been screwed wheeling solo, and as I was pointing downhill....off the side of a mountain....and a winch wouldn't have done any good either! No real damage other than the dent in the stabilizer tube, which I'm not going to bother to repair.

^The rock pretty clearly came under my LCA and also scuffed up the alignment cams a bit. I'll be putting a Marlin Crawler gusset kit on these this winter.

Finally picked up the elusive 60773 HVAC controls today. Had the yard who pulled this taken 5 more minutes, it would have been pristine. But, I did confirm that the FRONT DEF button (still available from Lexus) will work in place of the OFF button with a bit of trimming ("OFF" is NLA from Lexus). And, it fits perfectly in the Prado 120 trim piece that Toyota still makes.

The rest of the buttons are in OK condition. I'm pretty confident the grey paint will come right off with some oven cleaner and give a nice-looking black ABS button. I will consult with Mrs. Rednexus (who is a master operator of her Cricut) and see if we can find a way to re-print some labels or make a paint stencil so the labels are restored.

I picked up a sheet of ABS plastic and will get some ABS pipe glue to repair the broken mounting ear. Shouldn't be a huge deal.

Did yours come with the wiring harness?
No, it was sliced, so I'll need to extend the OEM wiring harness (which shouldn't be too big of a deal). I am also definitely going to have to weld in a few holes in the 03-05 radio brackets and drill a few new holes as well. I'm sure I'll run into a few other problems too.

The advice from Mrs. Rednexus is to make a stencil with her Cricut, paint on new labels/lettering, and then spray the buttons in clear. Prior to that, I'll strip the old buttons with oven cleaner. So, the end product will be black buttons with white lettering and labels. I also snagged some SEM plastic/interior prep, paint, and clear coat products for this (and man are they expensive...). We'll see how it works. If it goes well, we may offer button restoration as a side service to recoup some of the paint cost.
