I change oil every 6 months or 7500 miles. I know you can go over 10,000 miles with no issues based on stuff posted here and http://bobtheoilguy.com/

I also am running the Redline 5-30W based on Cary's recommendation.

Have you noticed any difference in consumption or leakage since introducing Redline?

I just recently put RedLine 10W-40 in my rig and I still have oil seepage at the big oil pan all around, (I think a fix is in order in the future) however now when I smell the oil from the leak it smells pretty, like wine :D

Have you considerd trying Mobil HM Semi-synth - worth trying to reduce/eliminate seepage.

I actualy fixed the only leak I had first, which was the valve cover gasket. I consum,ed maybe 2 qts in 6 months before and that was with a leak. I haven't checked it since I changed the oil, but I will in the next few weeks.

Darwood - I would replace the oil pan gasket. Not expensive and not that hard.

Advanced Auto Parts is having a big sale on Red Line Oil ($5.99 qt) and it is now close to Mobil 1. Since I was going to change my oil today anyways, thought I would try a Red Line Change.

Redline Sale $5.99, Regular $7.99 here in FL. First place I stopped sold out - was told guys were carting away cases of the stuff. 2nd place (mixed-bag neighborhood  ) had just about every Redline flavor - extremely nice staff.

Don't I need to tilt the motor after disconnecting the motor mounts in replacing the oil pan gasket? I do agree that I should just replace the gasket.

Ok after reading again about replacing the upper oil pan gasket, I won't be doing this for a while. I'm not dripping on the ground except for a couple drops. All I have to say is "That's alota work".

From the OM...
When the level reaches within the correct range, return the
filler cap and turn the cap clockwise until you hear a click.

Sorry for hi-jacking the thread but I don't think my oil cap ever 'clicks'

I read that too and assumed it was a typo in the manual where they confused the gas cap with the oil cap. I think if I tightened my oil cap enough to cause it to click it would be time to buy a new one.

no clicky on nine either, it is solid,
