$4500.00 QUOTE TO REBUILD. I FOUND A USED ONE IN GOOD CONDITION FOR $1200.00.
THOUGHTS AND INPUT ANYONE.
I'M LOCATED IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA.

1989 FJ62 WITH 232,000 MILES

You can get a new H55F 5-speed for a lot cheaper than that rebuild. My $0.02, and not worth much more. I am very prejudiced against autos. I may have to re-think that, as my 60s are looming.

If that's Valley Hybrids then just pay them and be stoked. if not, then call Valley Hybrids and pay them whatever it takes.

I had Georg swap mine out for the H55F best mod I've done so far. So he has a low milage one that came out of mine about 130K miles on it.
If you want to stay auto.

heck I might want that...

Swapping in a used auto took 4 hours. I had pulled old one and prepped the one before friends came over. Not a hard job. used ones are relatively cheap but you're gambling it will last.

cleaned transmission. Swapped a seal or two. I did NOT open the A440F up. I left it as is with no rebuild. Rather simple bolt in / swap.

The bolts that go into the the rear engine bell housing at the top were a pain but doable with 24" long drive extension.
