Thoughts on this? I'm thinking about replacing the rear roll down window with a rear hatch.. Anyone done a " Clean" locking modification?

The change is because after reading countless articles about the rear window weak link I would rather go with something alittle more reliable. The 55 is stripped to nothing and hopefully will be done right the whole way thru. Trying real hard to think things all the way before doing anything. My back window was busted out when I got it.

I would like to have a manual crank up, but if you clean and lube everything good it should be fine. When checking the plastic gear, clean and repack with new grease. Making a hatch for it would be one of those forever mods and maybe hurt your resale down the road if thinking about selling later.

I did a plexiglass hatch. It worked but was more of a concept than mod... it would take a lot to make look good... but given investment would be a good alternative... I’m not a fan of the in gate glass...

Must be personal preference, I'm just over 6' and despise every hatch I've been near, love the power glass...ambulance doors if you must cut it up?

don't forget the beefier d pillars rear cap plate

Full hatch or more like a clam shell?

I'll see if I can find pics of my old mod...

My pig came with a home made hatch. It's not my favorite mod so I have designed a better one. That change is low on my priority list so it will stay for a while. Its just aa aluminum frame with Plexiglas and I have to open the gate to open the hatch. It leaks like a @*#&$.
