there would be benefits to lowering that stop other than rubbing. The bump stop acts as a fulcrum point for the axle. So once the axle comes in contact with the stop the load on that side starts to transfer to the other side of the axle in the way of downward force. That will add stability to the truck and traction to the low side tire. Right up to the point that you run out of extension.

For reference, the total height of my bump stop including the 2" spacer is 5".

That's good to know. My rear bump stops are 4" total.
