Is there an easier way to repair the water leak from the rear trunk hatch? I didn't know where the water was coming from when I first discovered the carpet along the rear trunk hear the edge was all wet. When I took the car to carwash I saw water dripping from the top and a bit on the corner/edge. I did some research and sealed up the top center break light housing. OEM weatherstrip costs over $150! Is there any other fix from various universal weatherstrip sold on Amazon?

I had some leaks. Using windoweld on the third brake fixed 98% of it. Then I put in new OEM seals for liftgate (there are two - one for all the way around and also the one that seals the liftgate to the tailgate). Honestly the factory seal for the third brakelight is a joke.

For the seals… Yeah OEM prices suck but so does wet and moldy carpet.

Here are couple pics of the original rear hatch weatherstrip, they are sort of flat, if they are supposed to be more rounded brand new, then I would know this is definitely cause of the leak and need to replace.

you can grab some 1/4" 3m adhesive foam and run it around the edge of the lamp for a cheaper option. also, check the hatch gasket, the glue can come loose and water will slip it between the gasket and the body.

When I attempted to re-seal my 3rd brake light with Amazon sourced adhesive foam, I didn't clean off the original hardened adhesive that was stuck to the paint and the leak continued. On my 2nd attempt, I started by removing all that stuff with a razor blade and now it's totally dry again.

I was having the same problem you’re having. Replacing the weatherstripping fixed it for me. I bought it (part: 6788160111) from Impex. They still have it on their website for about $80 USD.

They’re in Japan so it’s a bit of a process but it’s manageable. Weatherstripping is lightweight so shipping shouldn’t be too expensive.

How long did it take to arrive?
It took over a month because unbeknownst to me, I ordered it during a huge Japanese holiday which they take off for two weeks.

It arrived well packaged and in good condition along with some other odd and ends I didn’t want to get from a dealership.

Check the roof rack. I chased a leak for months and it stopped after I siliconed the screws in on the rack
