Do the rear springs on a 79 Series Ute fit any other 70 Series?
Thanks

If my memory serves me right, I think the utes have the same length as the troopies but I’m sure smarter people will correct me.

I think when the toyota went from the 75 series to the 78 series , they only changed the front to coils. While the 79 series got a 100mm chassis extension and longer leaf springs.
Im not 100% sure, but thats what I remember reading. Parts diagrams dont show the length.
But the part numbers for the rear suspension on a 78 series do not correspond with the 75 series or the 79 series.

I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that the 75 and 79 Series Ute had the rear springs in common.

Or sell them?
Based on the above post I assume no one can use them in the U.S. market. I was hoping the 75 Series guys could use them so they just don't end up on a shelf.

I believe it is a genuine replacement frame.

Someone on another forum said the 79 series are 170mm longer from eye to eye. Not absolute proof I know. Toyota Australia publicity said they were longest leaf springs ever fitted to a landcruiser (probably anything).

Hello,

I measured the rear springs of an FZJ71 (coil springs on the front) and those of an FZJ73 (leaf springs on the front.) The latter are 30 mm (1.18 in.) shorter.

Quite likely, 78/79 Series need even longer rear springs.

It is possible that coil springs in the front axle require longer leaf springs in the rear axle.

Just my two cents.
