Can someone please help with how to select the correct HDMI input for the rear screen? When I purchased my Land Cruiser it did not have the remote, and I can’t seem to figure out how to select the correct auxiliary input when I’m playing from my phone through the HDMI adapter. Thoughts?I can’t speak to earlier but for the 2016+ model years the official iPhone lightening to HDMI cable works perfectly for the rear seat entertainment. You can have movies downloaded on Netflix, amazon instant video app, or iTunes movies and play those fine. You can also stream movies from any of those services and play on rear seats. I good solution might just be having a cheap iPhone SE and using that to store movies on and keep in vehicle as a ‘movie player’ so you can keep your own phone for other needs. Anyway official iPhone lightening to hdmi cable is expensive but works perfectly for the 2016+ model years.
What year LC? Remotes are are fairly inexpensive. Can someone please help with how to select the correct HDMI input for the rear screen? There are so many different threads about trying to find the right HDMI cables that work for 2016+ LC200 rear screens, but this thread came up the most when searching for "HDMI", so I'll post my solution here.
It seems like Apple users have no problem with the Apple lightning-to-HDMI cables, but I haven't seen very many successes here with regard to Android (USB-C to HDMI), or at least with Samsung devices. When I tried a few regular USB-C to HDMI cables, they would sort of work, but the video and sound would momentarily blank out every 5 seconds or so before popping back. Really not watchable that way.
But this device works solidly for me (with Samsung Galaxy S9):

It also has the option to plug in a USB-C cable into the side of it to charge your phone while you're also sending video to the back screens. It just mirrors your screen to the back, so you have to leave your phone screen on, but I confirmed that charging via the LC200 USB port at the front was able to keep up. I paired it with just a regular HDMI to HDMI cable.
That's what I was assuming at first, but the device I mention above actually still works even when the power cable is not used. Now I am assuming that the Samsung devices perhaps are just picky, and having the power circuitry in the adapter (even if not used) is what makes the Samsung happy. In my dealings with Samsung and hdmi out adapters- they generally need the power cable plugged in as well to work.
I got it to work only once, but I think you need to set output to 480.Can anyone tell me what settings you are using to get the iPhone/HDMI input to work? I have selected HDMI on both screens as the input, plugged the iPhone (even tried iPad) into the rear HDMI slot via an adapter, and I get nothing but blank screens. No audio, no video, nothing. This is a 2018 LC.
Thanks for the heads up! How do I set the output on my iPhone to 480?I got it to work only once, but I think you need to set output to 480.
Which is the cable to dumb down the fire stick? I returned a media box that only worked one time that played off sd card only got it to work once.Something else to consider. Amazon Fire TVs, Google Chromecast (especially new one with a remote) work fine in my 2010. I have to buy a converter to dumb down the HDMI to standard AV cables, you guys with HDMI inputs probably don't need that. Just need USB power for the dongle, then tether Wifi from your phone. This will work for streaming services, probably not so much for stored data. Amazon has a plethora of cheap small devices that can play video from SD cards as well. I only mention these devices because they are cheaper than the adaptors to connect your phone. All of the above options are < $40. I get these may not be as convenient as an IPad that already has videos on it. Just throwing it out there as a possible solution.
This is the one I ordered. I’ve only used it a few times, but has worked fine. Have to make sure you get one that goes the right direction. They make them either way, and they cost about the same.Which is the cable to dumb down the fire stick?
