Trying to verify clips and shims for rear brakes. Please verify if these photos are correct, for:
- pad support plates
- anti-squeal shims are correct inner and outer.
- where do the little clips go

Did a search of this and only came up with this item which is good but doesn't cover it all.

The FSM I think shows pad support plates as my photos here, but drawing is not that clear. Then the anti-squeal shims have changed since the FSM, which had two per pad. A anti-squeal shim and an inner anti-squeal shim. Now you get one per pad which looks like old anti-squeal shim with rubber coating on inside.
In addition to a packet of lube the anti-squeal shims come with two small clips shown in photo with lube, FSM has nothing about them.

Thanks

I've never seen those little clips before...I know they're not on my rig.

The little clips I believe are the wear indicators. They clip on the sides and when the pads get low enough the little metal lip vibrates against the disc, letting you know it's time to replace.

From a quick and dirty Google search, here's one on a pad.

That makes sense. Aftermarket pads or at least the ones I use don't come with these wear indicators...

Yea, I've used them before...just can't remember exactly how they clipped on, it's been a few years. I can't find it with the wheel on either. Maybe they fell off?

In the original photo in this thread are the wear indicators installed backwards? I installed mine in the same configuration today. But it seems to me that they are just backwards if the purpose is to squeal against the rotor when pads are worn....

FSM BR-27 shows how the rear braking system goes together. (P. 60)

I had a similar reaction yet just followed the FSM.

If this is incorrect I’ll find out since I ended up taking it to the dealer to confirm my rear sticking brakes were just related to caliper slide pins and not the hydraulic system.

One other note make sure you reset your slide pins properly - there is a main and sub pin that are distinguished by a bushing on the sub...I’m an idiot and didn’t know that (nor did the PO) and ended up with sticking brakes.

Wow… here it is 2021 and your pictures helped me figure out those support plates..thanks

I put the small clips in the top gripping the little ear on the pad and seated in the upper clip’s main groove. Pouring down rain or I would snap a pic.
