Maybe add "Back Up" lights?

Put me on the list when they are ready.

Thanks

For backup lights Ive been facing the foglight graphic to the right. The switch surface is so small that a graphic displays better than text IMO.

Here's a few pix of the heated seat switch.

I've been working on this "Frankenpanel" to accommodate more switched accessories and remove the ash tray. It still needs some finishing work and Im also going to add a 12v outlet between the pods.

Thank you FJ6T, just completed mine and it looks great if I do say so myself. For those that haven't completed theirs yet, a couple of tips that may help.

1) This can be done w/o a full dissemble of the switch: I removed the rear light bulb and merely pushed the front decal area out. I pushed it out with what I had next to me...the sharp end of a 12v test light. A small screwdriver would also work.
2) After you nail polish the old decal off, if you don't have fine enough sandpaper, I had some of that plastic polish left over from cleaning up headlights on another vehicle...works great.
3) I wanted the orange light on the switch to work (not necessary, but it's there so why not). I ran a separate ground wire from the switch White with Black stripe over to a good ground. In order for this to work, the Blue with Red stripe must be the 'constant power).

Again FJ6T thanks.

FJ6T, on your Frankenpanel, how did you get those notches in the individual holes at 6 O'clock ?

On my spare defroster switch I had to file my switch as my available space/hole didn't have those notches.

John

Wow... it would have been so much easier to file the switch. Sometimes I over think the process. I filed the notches into the panel. Can you throw up a pic of your switch mod to get the orange light to work?

Don't know how to do the drawing thing, but it's really simple as there are only 3 wires I used from the OEM defroster switch. All these colors are from the OEM switch

1) Blue with Red stripe is 'constant hot' into the switch.
2) Soild Blue is switched power to the device you are turning on when you push in the switch:aka Turing it on.
3) White with Black stripe: connected a 3rd wire here and ran it over to a good ground. Anywhere is good, but I ran it under the dash and above the steering column over to my 'hood release' pull that that is attached to the metal dash with a 10 mm head bolt, a very good ground.

Easy peasy, if you switch #'s 1 & 2 above the orange light won't work. The device you are powering will work, but not the Orange light. Took me a while to figure that one out. Let us know how this works for you.

John

7/25/15 Edit: I now have both bulbs working, so now am using all 5 wires. The 2 remaining wires are: 1 to ground and the other to any wire that is hot when you turn the dash lights on. I ran it over to the wire that lights up the ring around the cigarette lighter. This way the new emblem is lighted when you turn on the dash lights.

All of my switches are 5 wire. The two additional green wires are illumination wires that turn on the orange light when the switch is engaged.

FJ6T, so you have your Orange light working ?

I'm using this switch to power my Hella 4000's thru a relay. My switch turns on the relay as I described in post 33. My new switch gives power to the relay, which turns on the Hellas.

But since I was only using 2 of the 5 wires to turn on the relay (power in-power out) the Orange light had no ground and wouldn't light up...so I took the White with Black wire & connected it to ground. The remaining 2 wires I did not use.

Glad you got your Orange light working.

John

Edit: clarification.

You were right John. I already had the white w/black stripe grounded. This thing is starting to look like one of my son's picture books...

It looks really good. You've got a lot of $$ tied up in those rear defroster switches. I've got to find a couple more myself.
