Do you have sense yet how much that bumper is going to weigh?

right now i'd say just the bumper is about 70 lbs
add the tire carrier and a 31" tire......another 70lbs

but thats just a guess :D

i really don't think its gonna wieght anymore than a fully equipt SLEE 80 series :cool:

but wait till we add the 1/4 protection to it :eek:

Just wondering how you plan to limit the stress that your swing arm will have placed on it twisting outward over time with the weight of a tire, Gas or cooler Rack Etc????? That square tubing won't stay square forever with 100-200 pounds hanging off her.
Or am I missing something in the design that I can't see in the pictures.

WELL, since were not quite done, the tire sits as close to the spindle as possable without hindering the tail lamp on the left side.
a plate will still be added to the carrier for the tire mount and i'll probably put some gussets in there also.
the carrier will lean out a bit then lean back a bit (you'll see soon enough what i mean)
i will also add about three skid pads on the bumper so the swing arm will rest on them when locked in.

if you have any suggestions, let me know.

hey, if it dont work we cut it off and try again.

the SLEE spindle is huge and mighty stout. i definitly don't see an issue with it.

BTW the tube is .120 wall, the same i use for my outriggers and main rails on sliders.
if that matters.
 
I sure don't see a problem with the Slee spindle. With .120" wall you are in the right track with the material IMHO. That tire location sounds good to me as well. I don't see any so called "problems" with the swingarm. Just a thought as I have seen these arms loaded to the hilt with gear & I keep wondering how they stay square
I am planing on building my own soon & I don't want to have to do it twice. So I'm watching your build up really closely.
I'l be gracious & let you make the mistakes :D

awsome job, as always its lookin mean

we did that to bring some of the weight back over the bumper.
we could probably bring it back a few more degrees but then angled supports start not lining up.
