Can anyone take a photo of the rear bench seat latching mechanism including the contraption it locks to (metal piece with two bolts and rubber bumpers). My rear bench seat will not latch, although it seems to function properly. Looks as if the seat latching "fingers" are too high for the latch, and do not engage. I cannot tell whether the latch and mount were modified.

Thanks,

Scott

what year? early model is different that late model. early had a rod that slid over. you're saying latch, so i'm guessing late model, this style

Feb '69. I do not have a cable release.

Each side of the rear bench has a two-finger latch that hooks over a small bar on supports mounted to the wheel well. I've had to lift my supports about 3/4" to get the seat to latch, which does not look right.

I'll take a few photos during my next work session to show what I've got.

I don't know if this helps, but I also had to raise the cross bar on the wheel well brackets in my '69. Can't swear that my setup is stock, I believe it is. The only thing that I could figure out is that it may have something to do with the plastic covering, that is mostly missing, on the hook part of the catch. I did get it to work and it has held up well.

Please post up those pics! Sounds like at least 3 different styles of rear seat latches.

maybe my bad. Thought that was the one we were talking about. Didnt realize there was a bottom release lol.

EDIT: went outside to double check mine. I dont have a release handle for the bottom portion.

you are correct...early pigs do not have a bottom latch. probably for the better. the dipped portion in the floor just rusts anyway, the latches usually don't work well which causes the cables to snap, and i never bothered to actually latch the bottom on my 76...the seat doesn't go anywhere.
