Christo: Did RCV add the secondary seal to the knuckle side of their CV (like OEM)?

What should the OE CV axles cost installed?

If you buy the CV from Onur (aka beno)...not sure of the latest price due to Yen to Dollar exchange rate volatility...but probably around $400...then add an hour of labor, a new snap ring and you're probably in the $500-$550 range for a non-dealer job assuming you supply the parts.

OTOH if you take it in to the dealer I'd bet they're going to charge you around $750 or north...just guessing.

Why would you go u-joints when they are not going to run as smooth as a CV style joint. Maybe OK for a part time truck but I would not do it on a full time truck.

I don't know about the history and the politics etc behind what went on with the first gen set. We have a new set at the shop to check fitment. The boot now has a clamp and the fitment issues Dan had has been addressed. I am also not convinced about the $2k price tag and if needed on the 100 series. Other Toyota IFS applications maybe.

Also not sure if things at RCV has changed in terms of management, but it seems they are much more aggressive now in getting product out. Don't have enough experience to say about long term support.
I've had several UJoint fulltime 4wd vehicles and noticed no vibrations, but they were solid front axle equiped vehicles (quadratrac CJ-7, K5 blazer). Personally, if I was going to go bigger than 35s on this heavy of a vehicle, I'd have a dana 60 front from a CUCV installed with a 3 link with a matching 14 bolt rear with a shaved bottom. :steer:

I heard a guy here in Austin is installing a set at a cost of about $2500, thats crazy.
