I have some very rare discontinued parts from Toyota. This is a heater blower motor resistor. It fits 1969-86 Toyota Land Cruisers and have not been available for years. I found 2 on my shelf.

Price. $150.00 each.

I have a 87 fj60 - did the part change post 86? If not, I'm interested...

According to Toyota this is the correct part number that cross references to the early FJ40's after original part stock ran out. I will post part numbers tomorrow.

TOYOTA

  • EUROPE

    • LAND CRUISER [BJ4*, HJ47, FJ4*] 1980-1986

    • LAND CRUISER [FJ4*, 55, BJ4*, HJ45] 1969-1980

  • GENERAL

    • LAND CRUISER [BJ4*, HJ47, FJ4*] 1980-1986

I'm not saying it isn't, not trying to dump on your thread, just sharing the experience encountered last weekend when installing the exact same part on a '78.

You have to have the Hitachi plug and terminals, or relegate to some other form of connector/electrical tape, because the '78 vintage doesn't have a two terminal, female Hitachi plug exiting the motor.

Someone needs the plug and terminals, hit me up. I'll gladly send so that these buyers can enjoy how good the blower can be after the resistor is swapped.

Mine blows like a hurricane, now.

I appreciate that. I am finishing a 78 frame off now. I will look at the resistor on this one. Also, there is a second plug on this resistor that can barely be seen in the photo. If someone does need a connector they might be able to use the one off there old part. I have worked for Toyota for 18 years. This is the correct current part number from Toyota.

That's the plug that didn't exist on the U.S. '78 FJ40 blower motor I have, nor the '71, '76 FJ55 blowers, or '74 and '79 (claimed) 40 blowers "in inventory".

Not discounting experience, nor trying to screw up your classified ad, but I don't think a U.S. market item, at least not for 40/55s, (If it's 87138-60140. That's the only configuration I found that had the two terminal, secondary plug)

That said, it works with the plug modification, transforming the lackluster blower in mine, to one with enough flow that it blew 28 years worth of trash from the ducts and heater, right into my face the first time I tried it out.

Again, not trying to crap on your thread, just regaling my recent experience with, so that others are prepared for the very minor modification to the wiring, one well worth the effort.

That said, if my intentions are viewed differently, or you feel my comments have somehow hindered your ability to sell the part, I'll buy it, even though I don't need it.

The original TSB or Toyota Service Bulletin is no longer available from Toyota on this. It may call for a plug modification depending on the year. All I can tell you is this is a new oem Toyota part that was bought years ago before it was discontinued by Toyota. It will amaze you on how much it will improve blower function.

according to Toyota's part number you need part #87138-22030
Land Cruiser

1981-19906 Cyl 3.4L, 6 Cyl 4.0L, 6 Cyl 4.2L 2F, 3B, 3FE; BJ60, FJ60, FJ62

This part number I have says the following.
1969-1986 BJ4*. HJ47, FJ4*, 55, and HJ45 on product reference sheets.

I would say that it does not look like it is a direct fit for your FJ60 model. It may be able to be modified switch the plug, ect.. however I would not know for sure.

While we're on this subject and it is such a rare part, can any of you enlighten us on the ohms and wattage of said rare resistor?

I'm sure there are those that could improvise if the need be...

thanks for any input!
