So, for the second time inside the last 6 months, the horn of my 100 randomly starts - full on and constant. This last time it was at 2:34am while 100 was comfortably resting in my warm Garage.

The first time; Alpine Loop/Hinsdale County, parked with no one in it.

Each time = no running engine or humans inside. Any ideas as to what this Ghostly Spirit is telling me?

Mine used to do that when there was a very small amount of water leaking into the cabin from a poorly installed windshield.
But before that, why don't you take off the horn relay (in the fuse box by the battery) and replace it with a new one to see if that cures it!

Totally a windshield leak issue. Check your windshield rain gutter rivets. They usually allow a little bit of water in that slowly trickle on your fuse box.

I do have occasional windscreen leak issues but each time the horn ghost made its presence known the Cruiser was completely dry... this last time it was tucked away in my very dry garage...

If there is moisture near the fuse box the problem can occur days later after getting rain. I used to have random rain and I run to hide my LC in the garage. 3 days later the horn would randomly sound.

I recommend removing the trim piece where your front grab handles are. Inspect the seal between your windshield and your LC. I had a single pin hole leak in my windshield seal, where I only found it when I was air blasting the outside of my windshield seal and a little bit of moisture appeared on the inside. So I recommend running an interior head of silicon along the whole windshield (top and both driver and passenger side) to prevent any sort of leak from getting in.

Good luck

Which fuse box do you refer to?

Update; I have now replaced the main Battery, purchased and installed new Hella horns and installed a new Horn Relay.

Horn still blasts randomly!!! Cruiser has been in a totally dry environment for at least 1 week.

Not sure if you have this squared away yet... Mine just started doing this, driving side floor wet after raining horn blaring. My sun roof drain on the driver side was totally blocked up top (I couldn't even see the hole until I shop vac it and ran some cable down into it.
Hoping this is the problem for mine...

Ends up my LC had substantial issues with the windscreen frame/sheet metal. I hadn't replaced the glass in time i’ve owned it and they pulled the glass... greeted with rust and corrosion - found my leak source!
I had the entire sheet metal frame replaced along with a Pro glass install.
3 weeks - lots of rain - no phantom horn .

crossing fingers!

Great thread, thanks to all who contributed. I had this happen to me at 1:30 this morning. I'm sure the neighbors appreciated it. Now I know where to start my troubleshooting!

Hey ZREM; My Cruiser has been quiet since I completed the following - thanks to ih8mud contributors.
1. Replaced the 12V Battery
2. Replaced the Horn Relay
3. Replaced Horns (new Hella's)
4. Cleaned sunroof drains (with string trimmer line)
5. Replaced windshield including repairing extensive rust around windshield body (from former shoddy windshield installation) There was significant evidence that my water leak was due to that rust.

Crossing my fingers now.

Ft. Collins! I work with an Architecture firm in FOCO - several projects at CSU Equine facilities! Great area!

I just bought a 99 in which the prior owner said it had the same issue. Could you visibly see the rust issue without the windshield removed? I did notice water on the floor on the drivers side. I'll try the sunroof drain first.

There was a very minimal 'bubbling' under the paint on one corner of the windshield. I had been aware of that for several months which was obviously a precursor to the larger problem. After the old windshield was pulled, the channel where it sat was perforated fairly badly at the top and proved the source of the problem.
Water was running around the screen frame and down the Screen pillar onto a crucial little motherboard located to Left of your Left foot as you're seated in the drivers seat. This was causing the circuit for the Horn to short - who knew! Good Luck!
