Sure, I’ll get you some measurements and detailed pics in the daylight tomorrow. The track only comes in silver and I didn’t want something shiny and reflective up there so I plasticoted it on what must have been the humidest day of the year. It wasn’t dry enough when I attached the balls so it peeled. I made a gasket to keep it from touching the dash directly and risk staining the dash.

Nice. It makes quite a lot of sense as I am thinking about it more. Ha ha I am not surprised that the 1/8th inch holes were easier after installing the snorkel! I have often thought that I overly complicate solutions and that I should simplify. This is definitely the simplest solution to finding multiple mounting points that are all within reach. What did you PlastiKote? Could you offer any numbers for how far back from the edge of the dash you installed the track?
It’s strong enough that I can insert and remove my phone and tablet with one hand.

This is awesome! Thank you for posting the photos and measurements. The measuremnets definitely answered some questions that I had. This is the route that I am going to go in my vehicle as well. Now to get the parts around.
I started with X-grips and hated them because they took 2 hands to operate and more room to function, which to me was disfunctional, so I swithed to the tab-tite and quick-grip for the phone and turned it upside down so I push down vs up to insert and remove the phone. Ram has since come out with a track that wasn’t available at the time, but personally I like yakattacks better because it’s aluminum vs plastic and you have 2 points of entry vs 1. There’s a few others out there that have a higher but slimmer profile and use less screws, but I liked the wide low profile with screws on both sides of the track. 8” is as wide as you can go for a flush fit because of the dash radius. Let me know if you need more info.

I used a Panavise setup for my cellphone. They advertise the base as suitable for tablets as well. Fits between the trim pieces and screws in behind. No drilling the trim at all. I’ll being looking for a tablet solution as well soon. Part numbers & more pics on my build thread.

I considered the panavise for its strength but didn’t like how far away and low it put my phone. I still may get one for my cb mic though I felt like it was encroaching on the passenger some.

The one in my old 4Runner definitely did, but not so much in the LX. At least my phone hasn’t been knocked out by a knee as yet! This pic shows the position a little better. But if you have more big n’ tall folks in the passenger seat I could see it getting bumped.

It took me a while to get my ham radio RAM mount 3D printed. Then, once I had all the pieces, the screws kept breaking up when I tried to attach the RAM mount to the control unit. So I haven't made much progress. Anyway, this is the piece I am going to use to put it back a ways (RAM B Size 1" Ball on 2.5" Round Plates with AMPs hole pattern). Its the longest one I could find. If that doesn't work, I'll use a window suction cup mount. My HT ham is on one right now for a few months and its still in place!

@Cop9980 - I tried it this week and it didn't work. With the longest RAM arm I could find it still doesn't sit back far enough. So I tested out a window suction cup mount for last week or two and it seems to work fine.
