Radiator Repair/Replacement?

Did some work on it yesterday afternoon - did another block test just to be sure. Then took it for a ride, including pushing it a bit on the interstate. Temp behaved as I'd expect. But when stopped, the overflow line is venting a lot of steam into the overflow bottle (OBD2 temp was about 215). My guess is that the radiator cap is not seating properly or holding pressure as it should. It's a brand new cap from Toyota. Will take a closer look tonight.

This was the symptom on mine, it would burp out the coolant from the reservoir when the engine was turned off. Come to find out it was a head gasket leak out the first cylinder. There was no coolant and oil mix but the exhaust gas coming out from cylinder one. Hope that helps.

Yep, been there done that. That's why I've run a block test on it twice and neither has detected exhaust gasses in the coolant. I guess I'd also expect it to run rough and throw misfire codes also if there was a head gasket leak.

Block tests were done at idle at temps up to about 205-210. Could clearly see the coolant flowing in the radiator, so the thermostat was definitely open. Ever heard of a head gasket leak that only shows up under load or at higher RPM?

Also have a Blackstone lab sample kit on the way.
