I'm looking into diesel swaps for a 55 series, and was looking for the opinions of the BJ60 owners on their 3Bs as I have heard that they can be a little lacking in power for the size of the vehicle.

So I guess it boils down to: Is a 3B sized engine sufficient to power a 60 series (or 55 series in my case)?

It depends on the performance you're looking for. If you want V8 acceleration, no but if you don't mind to sit in the slow lane up the mountain passes then it's just fine. Go with a turbo as well.

The 3B in the FJ55 works good too!

3b is slooow. But has good torque down low. fast highway driving is not going to happen.

Would I put a 3b in a 55.....ABSOLUTELY! Personnally I like the power, I don't need to get there that fast and don't mind waiting 20 seconds to get to 60. Whats the rush.

They are pretty efficent too.

I would not put in a 1.9 TDI. I owned a golf with one. Like it a lot. But I would not want to have to deal with all the electronics in a 55. Keep it simple.
