“Sound Deadening is very satisfying indeed, especially when you knock on your doors and hear a dull thud instead of a hollow sound. I am currently chasing a rear side window rattle, which is the only thing that resonates outside, and it is annoying.”

I have installed power windows in my FJ40 since I needed to replace the window regulators anyway and added sound deadening material…adhesive back and the THUD sound really is satisfying . It is extremely noticeable

Dull thud is the goal!

New equipment has arrived- a new large-format printer; she is a thick woman. I got a Revopoint MetroY Ultra scanner and a gaming laptop for CAD. Only my mechanic (I know you will read this, Manny) takes money from me faster.

Hey,

You can retain passive crossover as a fail-safe; you won't be alone in this world if you go that route. How I have preserved my units from blowing prior to tuning, I zero'd out all the gains or gave them only about 5%. On my last setup, I did not turn anything on until I got to the tuner's shop.

As for my brackets, I will assist as much as possible on your journey. One thing I never stock is Toyota/Lexus-specific wiring harnesses; Crutchfield is where I normally point people.

Thanks for the advice regarding amp setup. It seems like I need to retain the OEM nav unit for the time being unless I buy a Teyes headunit which are known to be very flakey / buggy and negatively affect the sound quality. But the dedicated HVAC controls are coming so that will open up the possibilities significantly.

Bypass the HU altogether; most DSP amplifiers have Bluetooth features. Use their volume knobs and be free. In certain cases, brands require you to buy their own HD Bluetooth dongle. I do not use my "Tesla" monstrosity for volume control, I use the knob that I bought from Mosconi.
