My 83 FJ40 with smittybuilt. tight but no issues. Again for $100 the smitty is a decent option. I was pleased with quality of the Tuffy though for $275. Not pleased with the fitment hassles.

just curious - has your shift lever been modified or replace? I have seen some that are at more severe angles than the original and can cause issue.

I installed in my 74 with their bracket no problem and it does NOT interfer with shifting. They have been doing this so long and make those brackets so specific, it tells me something on your end changed?

What is the model number of theconsole you installed. I have a 75 FJ40 I'd like to install one in.
Thanks

I guess brilliant minds think alike... I also have the Aussie floor mats in mins and they look good, too.

I may take your advice and change the bend in the shifter shaft. How do you remove the shifter? I think I heard that there is just some sort of nut holding it in once you remove the boot, but I've never looked under there to see what it looks like. Do you have to remove the "inner boot" from the transmission to do it? If so, how does that come off?

I wasn't looking forward to trying to modify the console mounting system to make it work like it is. I'm afraid it would be too far back to use as an armrest if I did, too.

I hadn't thought about putting a filter in the bottom of the stereo compartment before, but that sounds like a good idea.

Thanks for your help!

Could you guys be good enough to provide some information on the audience mats? Are you happy with them and do they cover the hump area? Thanks and nice right up guys

Is there anywhere to buy a shift lever that doesn't need to be bent?
My 73 has this problem with first gear, but oddly enough not 3rd. maybe there is a linkage solution?

I have installed a H55F and the shift tower is farther to the rear and may have issues when I install a console. But once I have the seats ready to go back in I am moving them as far back as I can for more leg room and will move the console back to so I may not have the issue of banging my knuckles when shifting.

Wait and see when I get there.

Same issue exists with current generation of tuffy console in a 1979. Shifter
cane is too close to front of console and bangs the knuckles.

I'll be bending the cane slightly.
How close is it? I have a 79 and I think the same console. I haven’t made any changes to the cane or the console and haven’t had a problem. The image is 4th gear.

that console is a different model (with separate stereo compartment up front). When did you get that console? I don't spot that it
is offered anymore...but could be wrong.
2010 maybe? It has a stereo console. It was just closed and I have never used it.
