Yeah, that jump the car does from 1st to 2nd mostly when the engine/transmission is cold. Ranges from mild "was that a bug?" to "damn, who hit me from behind?". General consensus on the forums here has been the large difference between gear ratios (correct term?) which I believe got even greater with the new transmission. I think the thought regarding the difference is that the new transmission was moreso for towing performance rather than MPG, given it doesn't really provide any documented MPG difference and the higher gear ratio provides more torque at lower gears? I could have my terms all wrong there, but the idea stands.
Hmm even after starting my 14 after it's been sitting all day in zero degree weather it's never shifted harshly whatsoever in any gear change 1-2 or other. Maybe I'm lucky, but I don't recall reading that about the ubiquitous 6 speed.
I was in the same boat; had a 2016 Suburban which I traded in my 2007 LC for. Biggest mistake ever. Wanted more room which I got, but for the 3 months I owned it that pile of junk was in the shop. Long story short got my money back. Anyway, looked at 2013-2015 LC's but got a heck of a deal on a 2017. The upgrades on the interior and the exterior (especially the front end) sold me.Hello everyone,
I'm coming off owning a 100 series that I loved.
I have a 62 that is my build out and project vehicle. It's very close to being fully completed, maybe another 3-4 years timeframe and it's done (inside, outside, and underneath).
I'm contemplating either finding a nice low mileage 2013-2015 or possibly jump to a 2016.
I was curious about opinions between these and just your general thoughts about them as daily drivers and with taking the kids on the occasional outdoors trip.
What are the main differences between these years? I will continue my search of threads but thought I'd post up.
Thanks!
I have a 2013 LC and previously owned a sequoia with a larger back seat and more legroom. My issue with the 2016 are those built in dvd screens protruding from the backs of the front seats. I have a 5 and 8 year old and when walking them through busy parking lots or parallel parking, both kids will typically climb in from the same side. Now if one kid has to crawl over the other, which happens regularly, that 6" of less space to move through there becomes a daily issue.
We have a 5yo and 9yo that ride in our 2016 every day, including 6000+mi over 3 weeks this summer. Screens are fairing fine and proven to be a non-issue with ingress/egress. Biggest thing on the screens is that we NEVER actually use them. We had to have iPads for long road trips in the 100 years ago so that's what we are used to and they are just flat out more functional. Rear entertainment is IMO a very dated concept and I'd rather not have the screens either but I can say the kids get around them just fine as do our parents who are well into their 60's.
@superdave74 We also traded in an '08 Sequoia to get the '16!Biggest thing I miss about the Sequoia is the cargo area room and the fold flat 3rd row. Biggest thing I don't miss about the Sequoia was that hideous dash. Probably the least favorite dash layout of any vehicle I've ever owned, and thats alot of cars!
My 8 and 5yos do this all the time. Though I always preach, and just wait... cause one of them is going to get their fingers shut in door, has almost happened already as the one doesn't always see the other coming and starts to close the door.I have a 2013 LC and previously owned a sequoia with a larger back seat and more legroom. I acutually came up from an 03 Sequoia and while I didn't think I'd miss the cargo space, I went to buy a few wooden rails (11' each) for a split rail fence, normally I'd roll down the back window on the sequoia and set the ends between the front seats and the other ends out the back.
Anyone have links to the removal of the screens on a 16?
Get the cleanest low mile rig you can find. California has many clean rigs as it has not rained much 4 out of 5 years.
BOOM.
