What is the purpose of the vacuums lines on the power steering pump

My guess would be to use the vacuum created by the PS pump run another component, similar to the brake booster uses vacuum from the engine to work.

the lines run from the intake manifold through an adjustable gate to the powersteering pump. This is on the 22re anyway

My 85 had this, but I could not feel any difference in the steering with the valve on the intake manifold was maxed out either way.

It's a different animal but on a V6 it raises the idle when the PS pump is loaded up.

Ding ding ding... Winner!

This is exactly why. Try it... Sitting still, turn your steering all the way left or right till it hits the stops. If you keep pushing, it strains the pump, and the idle goes up a little, or at least it should.

Is it possible to be leaking PS fluid from the vacuum connection at the PS pump the pump is very low on fluids and there seems to be a fluid leak in the general area.

Yes the pump is easy to rebuild, just messy to remove. You can get a rebuild kit from Toyota, but be advised it doesn't include the bearing. I would replace it at the same time.

Make sure you are using ATF in the system, not PS fluid.

I was looking at the EPC and see the gasket kit and the front seal which is separate but I don't see a bearing.
Can you guys give me a part number on the bearing as well any sources for the rebuild parts ( gaskets and seals)other than Toyota.

Gasket kit, Power Steering pump 04446-35010
Bearing (for Vane Pump Shaft) 90363-17004

Personally, I would not buy that kit from anywhere but Toyota.

Mine a 89 and the EPC numbers are not matching the numbers you listed did the pump change around that time.
I get this number
04446 GASKET KIT, POWER STEERING PUMP
04446-20030

This is a seal on the front of the shaft I dont see a bearing listed
44302G SEAL, OIL, NO.2(FOR VANE PUMP HOUSING)
90311-18007

I guess I assumed you have a 22RE, is that not the case?

The rebuild kit includes the front seal.

Here's the bearing:

This is all I get on my EPC
Wow not sure what happened anyways that bearing does not show up on the EPC for 89 ForeRunner/Pickup

I second that. I bought the Autozone kit because they were closer than the dealer, ended up going to dealer to get the large o-ring that goes between the two halves of the pump housing because the parts house kit had the wrong size o-ring and it wouldn't seat properly, causing the pump to suck air.
