That cruise is in a very nice location, how do the wores run through the steering wheel and turn??

Great thread by the way.....

Rob

We also added a Autron cruise control unit, to help on the long drives, and wuith the speed cameras, and have found it to be great, as you can adjust the sensitivity of the unit, and the LEd is green when turned on, orange when activated.

The green switch on the right locks up the torque convertor in any gear, and the brown one links the 2 batteries bypassing the red arc unit for winching etc.

I have seen aftermarket cruise where the switch is a wireless piece with it's own battery, like a garage remote.

It uses Horn contacts .

Some more details on the build of late as well,

Since we fitted the long range tank, rear bar and wheel carrier, the rear 37's were just touching the flares a little easier, so we have now increased the rear bump spacers to 60mm, instead of 40mm in our standard long travel kit, to prevent the tyres from touching. We now have 160mm rear bump stop clearance at ride height, [120mm with 40mm spacers front]

We bought in some of Christo's rear bars, to test them for the desert trip this year with the 37 hanging off it, and ease of use, design, etc, to ensure we were happy with them, before we brought in any more, and so far we are extemely happy with the build quality, and design, and we will be adding a jerry can holder, and fold down table design to the wheel carrier in the next few weeks.

Using the extra long 12" stroke front and rear shocks, and the bump spacers, we still have over half the shock stroke in droop, as well, so the travel works, with the longer free height coils, and effectively I could now go longer rear shock, or move a mount, for the extra 20mm spacer effectively in the rear.

HDJ80 front camber problem

Hi,

I'm posting from Romania. Although this is an old thread, I'm going crazy with a negative camber problem on the left front of my 1995 HDJ80 (LHD model passenger side).

My friendly 4x4 dealer who loves the 80 series, tells me it must be a bent casing. What to do? I've replaced all components, new top/bottom pinion bearings, drive shafts, knuckles and seals.

I'm running on 305x75x16 General Grabbers on 16x10" steels and I would give anything to have zero camber or better still some minor negative camber.

You mention that offset pinion bearings are available, would I use them on the top only or top & bottom?

Please tell me where I can get them from and how to get them and some advice on fitting and setting up balanced L & R camber angles.

If I could just get the offset bearings, my dealer could fit them if it's too complicated for DIY.

I'm deparate...

THANX!

I just reread all 10 pages again.
I have been doing research on these "Slinky" coils.
It seems project Rooby was the start of them, what a jurney.
Darren @AutoCraft Aus what ever happened to Rooby?

Since the Slinky coils are finally coming to the USA I figured bumping would be a good historical education for anyone interested. Just a note: @ats4x4dotcom turned into @AutoCraft Aus by the end of this thread. Both are Darren M.

ROOBY went to a guy in NSW who had it for nearly a year, and then moved it on to a guy in Brisbane, who still has it this year, when last I spoke to him.

I should start a build thread on the current 80 I have, which is No 21 for me, with many works on 20 80 series before it ;)

Sorry, should of added, a change of employer at the time saw a name change a long time ago.

Bit like an address or phone number update when you move.

Way back Wednesday for this one LOL.

Starting a new build thread for a new project, which will be like ROOBY.... 13 years on.

Some interesting stuff over the next little while we will be working on, new build thread link I will post up shortly.

Meet "Mooney"
