I am planning on doing something like this. Gonna use a linear actuator and make one myself.

That's the spirit! I already utilize them to activate the drum brake of a semi hub spindle for trailer we make to unroll large rolls of drain tile.
I'll use something like this, Surplus Center is my friend!

Although I will say the e stop kit linked above isn't too much more...

ETA I built this multiplier linkage to try to increase the power from my ‘73 parking brake handle and that didn’t work very well either. So I’ll just connect the actuator to this.
