Any reason why the spare went on the ps instead of the ds? Beauty fab work by the way.

D

Thanks man. I felt it would be best to put it on that side as far as looking out the back window at whats behind me.

This an awesome bumper..really dig the side re-enforcement

Damn...nice skills!

DiscovereLC I will tell you one thing quit your job and start doing this full time, you have the skills and imagination and your LC is the perfect example of that. Keep me posted in case you decide to build bumpers for other people and if you do sign me up. Once again great build and keep on Crusing:cheers:

Thanks guys!

Haha, I can tell you Ive thought about getting on with a shop or starting my own small one. I have a good job right now though, and I get to play with things that go boom! ;)

I'm starting to build a 1st gen 4 runner crawler, so the work is being spread around from both rigs right now. Still need to finish the rear bumper, but I've been enjoying the weather outside instead of staying in the garage.:grinpimp:

Some pictures of a little wheeling this last week.

The 80 surprised the hell out of my jeep buddies. Stock drivetrain with a mild 2.5" lift and remote res. 7100's, and it flexed and crawled up everything with no issues. The sliders and rear bumper took some good hits and didnt budge a hair.

Nice work. Great thread. Inspiring. Would love to do some fab work.

So I will need: manual tube bender, plasma cutter, Milermatic 180 with autoset, couple of metal fabrication table, a bunch of vise grip clamps, I'm sure I will need a right angle grinder, and huge pile of talent and hours upon hours of practice. Add anything else I need to add to my shopping list?

looks great man, nice job on the fabrication, i was wondering do u have the specs for the sliders and bumpers? and estimates on how much material is needed? if you could get those to me i would greatly appreciate it

Man I wish I could weld....maybe one day.:frown:

s***ty luck today with the 80.

I was at work, and a friend sends me a text saying "why are there cops outside your house?"

Turns out a 2006 Range Rover 1. came down my street (who knows how fast) and made the turn too wide 2. overcorrected across the street and up the sidewalk. 3. into a park honda. 4. smashed the honda and went back across the street. 5. up my lawn, and finally into the side of the 80.

It impacted the honda destroying it and still had enough speed to take out the 80. From the skid marks and amount of force it looks like the car was still accelerating when it hit both vehicles.

The 80 has two busted up passenger doors, but they both still open and close without any effort. The B and C pillars have some small paint wrinkles to show damage, I just hope that isnt the final say on whether they total my poor truck. It appears that my slider helped save the truck, and so far the frame looks fine too. There was a small tree on the driver side of my truck, and thankfully the step on my sliders took out the tree before it took out my door.

yup. The Range Rover was completely destroyed and the driver had to go to the hospital.

Daaaaamn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

at first I was like - 'oh how cute he's a DIY'er who bent a spoon to make a GPS mount'...

then I read on...

awesome metal work dude

DUDE no!!!!! Thats freaking horrible!!!!!

dibs on the bumper :flipoff2:

Keep dreaming! No matter what the cruiser is staying with me.... ;p

I cant see it being totaled when the doors are the only major damage. The B and C pillars have a bit of damage, but the doors still close just fine.
