Great build. The Cruiser has come along nicely!

You should start your own fab shop.....great work. Very impressive!

Great job so far, can't wait to see what you come up with next.

How thick are those recovery points on the front bumper?

Thanks guys!

Beautiful welds. Your fabrication skills are incredible. Loved the ARB switch pod on the Rover. Are you planning air lockers for this truck as well?

Jwp

yup, ARB's for this truck also. I bought a set of Nitro Gear 4.88's in the group buy a while back. Im just waiting to save up the money someday for the ARB's and 35's.

The recovery points are 1" thick. I bought them from Trail Gear through a local shop, but I dont see them on their site.

Thanks Ned.

Went to Sears this last Sunday on there Friends and Family day. Bought a Diehard Platinum P-2 Group 65 battery. 930 CCA's.
You can also see the winch solenoid mounted in front of it.

I also installed an oil separator from JEGS on the PCV hose.

Wanna make me a front bumper like that? ;) I've also got a 96. Man....I wish I could weld!!

I've been impressed by your individual mod threads - but to see them all together is awesome. I'm not the first and won't be the last to tell ya.... you got skills man! Keep up the good work.

What's your impression of the bilsteins? After going 4.88's myself - I find that 37's are a bit more in line with the stock config for highway speeds. Just a thought if you were having trouble justifying 37's.:hillbilly:

I was impressed when I saw the sliders but the bumper is unbelievable. Great work. Very jealous of your fab skills. All my projects look like that in my head but the seem to look like crap in reality.

The Bilstiens are nice, but I would probably look into the Fox's if I had to do it again. The Billy's dont allow you to put a bumpstop on the shaft like the fox, and they put a clear coat on them that isnt all that great so they dont weather that well. Also the eyes are welded on with these 1/2" baby welds. Yeah, I'll never break the things with the type of wheeling I do, but the Fox's still look beefier! Im probably going to get rid of the hiems too. They dont fit snug on the bolts (ive spent lots of time trying to find the best fitting bolts!) so they chatter going down the road.

I wish I could install the gears and run larger tires! I think the 33's are still on the small side for this truck, but I wont make the jump until I can do it all right the first time.

I'm assuming you are using plasma to make your cuts? Do you have access to a cnc table or are you cutting using templates/straight edge.

I've been getting much better at welding but my plasma cutter is still new to me.

I did use the plasm on this bumper, but it was all by hand. I wish I had a CNC table! All my other projects over the years have been done with a grinder and cut off wheels. Which takes lots of time, but the cuts are just as straight and clean. I'm in love with the plasma though! The Hypertherm Powermax 45 is a beast and doesnt even blink an eye at 1/4" plate. 1 inch per second through the stuff.

I dont spend much time making templates when I build stuff. Mostly I just picture it in my head as I go and take it step by step. If I cant decide exactly how I want this or that to be, then Ill make a test piece out of cardboard to see what I like best, but only when Im stuck on something and cant decide.

Thanks Toy Fan

As long as youre out in the garage working on projects Im sure things will improve over time! I started building my own stuff after a local shop TOTALLY butchered a $1200 custom bumper for my Rover. I was 16 and said theres no way Im going to let someone else take that much of my money (saved up all summer for that bumper) and screw it up like that ever again. Im 24 now, and looking back on it, Im glad they screwed up that bumper, cause thats what caused me to want to learn and build my own stuff.
