There is a big difference from a 40x13.5 vs a 39x12.5 tire. Only sounds like 1" but weight & tread width matter also.
Also people wheel differently. Some use brute force, some use finesse, then a few use "Madness & Finesse"

The tubs he used look like from Summit, but were to large maybe 42" maybe 44" tubs. @mazder install 40" tubs looks much better.

Driving Technique definitely matters. you can brake tons if you try hard enough.

1" is 1" and it really only adds 1/2" to the radius. Now making that extra 1/2" fit is a big deal, wheel width, off set and how wide the tire is all matters.

It's easy to slap some 4Ds on but to make the truck live more then just running down the road takes a lot of modifications and CASH ask me how I know

Also Mazdar is running 38s so 40" tubs work well for him and they look good, he did a real nice job.

My guess is that Clifford is a marketing tool and well never see hard wheeling. But who would want to mess up that purdy paint job anyway !!

The truck looks good and I'm sure it turn heads wherevery it go's

I'm finally done packing and loading, and leave for Fordyce at 4:30 am. time to get some rest ;)

Spend how much money to subject myself to the problems others are dealing with on the black box and do what with my gas tank? I get by just like everyone else depending on the smooth, positive power delivery. Try wheeling tough trails with the gearing we have and a Toyota manual trans that’s maybe 4:1. Would not be easy. Our automatic makes up for lack of low gears except on steep descents over loose terrain where I just tell myself, at least my rig has AC and soaks up these bumps well. The ride home should be comfy.

If the Clifford build is the cats meow, why did it get sold so quickly?
After seeing a black box work in person, I think it’s definitely worth the effort. I’m not sure how you wheel with 37s. The automatic helps a ton but I have the same gearing as you but with 35s and I don’t think it’s nearly enough.

It’s not gearing that holds back a 80 it her big fat a**
