Ok, it's time I get started on my sons 65. He graduates from high school next year and I figure this would make a great graduation gift. I plan on keeping it as stock as possible but will upgrade to a dual master cylinder brake set-up. Here are a few photo's.

Removed the top, fenders and hood. Only managed to break off a couple bolts. Drilled and re-tapped. PTO leaks really bad. Are parts and seals hard to find? I guess I'll find out.

Deja vu :D

I see the top rail you were speaking of - got a little bow in it. The side panel looks ok - though its hard to see from that angle.

That is a great father son project. My two sons (ages 6 and 10) are fighting of who gets dads 45, Might need to find another one to keep them both happy.

Here is a better photo. Top rail is tweaked. Tailgate is worse, I thinks it's beyond my capabilities.

Mike

Yup. Definitely kinky. As you are likely aware I have the tailgate parts as well. Is the main letter-stamped panel ok. If you can save the panel and stiffeners the rest I have. I have the panel and stiffeners too but originals will work better together and my panel is blank.

Can't wait for progress reports

Just a year behind.

OK. go easy on me guys. My 65 is now down to the running gear and frame. Yes, the body is completely off. The original F motor is toast and will need to be rebuilt or I can go with a transplant. I found a 74 F.5 motor that can be rebuilt according to my local engine rebuild shop. He was even able to find a set of .20 over domed pistons for it from a restoration shop he knows of. The trans and tranmission will need to be gone thru. Can I retain my PTO? Going to be doing a complete color change to Spring Green T-1028. Pictures to follow.

Mike

Mike, you most certainly can retain the PTO, and I have a couple of the gaskets and seals for the head unit.

Like I hinted on the phone, I am very glad I didn't have to hunt down the pistons for you!;)

Let me know what else I can do.

Best

Coming along VERY slowly

OK, I know it's been a while but I am moving forward, ok it's a snails pace but here it goes. Chassis completely stripped and frame now mounted on a rotisserie. Frame is in great shape thanks to the Arizona climate. Is that a Toyota part # on the rear springs? Getting ready to blast the frame and repaint with some sort of chassis paint, any suggestions? Freshly rebuilt 74 F 1.5 ready to be transplanted anlong with a 4-speed.

More to follow
