Princess Auto in Langford carries Scepter military cans!

Seriously! The real deal. Dark green with red collars (I imagine you could ebay some yellow collars if you wanted) and blue WATER ones. Both half size and full size. I think the water ones were ~$25 each and the fuel ones were ~$65 each. Brand new.

:D:D:D

Da Fuq? Ill have to look at my local one.

The Scepter water cans are awkward to use without a gravity spout, so I refill the consumer water container that has a twist spout from the Scepter can. The Scepter fuel cans can be ratchet strapped down on a roof rack without leaking - on the Mackenzie run a guy that came had four spare Scepter gas cans on his roof - no issues, apart from being top heavy.
Expensive but built to last. Before they became popular I paid $42 each - 2008 or so.

I bought one of the water ones for some camping I did this last weekend. It worked well, and did not even leave plastic taste in the water. As Glenn said though, it's a bit difficult to use without a spigot. I also just dumped water into a small container for easy usage.

I really want to buy a few of the fuel containers, but just can't justify the expense right now, as I really don't have an immediate use for them.

There was a post on the CC site of used ex-military cans - $20 or $30 each or something like that.

The huge wall of those beautiful green fuel cans only a 5 min drive from my house are REALLY temping me. But I just cannot justify spending $240 on fuel cans when I have 4 already that work fine. I guess when they have worn out maybe then I can :)

Old thread revival. Any idea if customs will get pissy about me bringing one of these back into WA state via the Victoria to Port Angeles Ferry?

My recommend would be to not be too specific about what you are declaring, they normally just worried about value re: declared maximum
allowable. Don't put anything in it, leave the cap loose. Then if they get specific say it will make a cool water storage container.
The BC ferries are worried because there is a legal limit to the number of fuel containers onboard. But if it is new, and has never been
used it's not a fuel container.

@Rigpig the EPA won't let them be sold. We can get sometimes get used ones from the military and we have access to the water jugs, but not the fuel containers.

@cruiserpilot Smart take.
