2006, low miles (75K) and sounds like it has been taken care of really well. Talked to the guy on the phone, but it's a couple hour drive away and he seems pretty proud of it. $29,000 seems way too high, but what's fair to show up with if I go look at it and want to be prepared? KBB is ~$21K with the mileage allowance.

Pacific Northwest, if that helps. Looking to move up from my moderately-built 80. Still not sure I want to, but the list of needs is just too long to keep justifying throwing money at it. Maybe. UGH.

Thanks in advance for any help with yet another one of these threads.

I'm sure guys more qualified than I will chime in but that's probably close to what he will get if it's in good shape and everything is legit. You might be able to get a little consideration for the timing belt change by pushing the 7 year change over mileage (assuming it wasn't done) but that's not likely to mean much.

Not sure of your local market but around North Texas that does not sound like an unreasonable starting point for something that's mint. It's tough to do but see if you can feel him out on price a bit before making the drive; like anything it comes down to negation strategy & skill on your part and his pain/desire to sell. If it's only worth a max of $XX to you make sure that's clear before driving out, then be prepared to spend it if everything is described accurately, otherwise if it's not as promised you've got a new high price to start negotiating down from.

My take is that most people driving these are honest, straightforward, & educated...he likely knows what he has and doesn't want to wast time anymore than you do. Good luck!

I think he's a little high, however they are getting harder and harder to find flawless so depending on condition he'll probably get it. For it were me I'd shoot for 26

What is he smoking. May as well get a 2008 or 09 for that price.

Yeah, I've been texting back and forth this morning. Looks like a really nice rig and he sounds like the kind of guy you want to buy from, but just too high and he's holding firm on the price. I don't want to go into a truck that upside-down from a financing side of things, or insurance. My luck, I'd wreck it on the way home and lose ten grand.

The search continues!

Man I dunno where all you guys find cheap cruisers but I've NEVER seen KBB pricing hold true with what I see them priced at here in CA - or for Toyota 4wd's in general.

I think the cruiser in question is priced on par with what I've seen pop up here in CA. Heck, I've looked and never seen a 200-series under $30k yet.

I just bought an 06' in CA for $17k, it had decent service history but needed a timing belt/water pump (the owner lied and said it was done before I purchased it..and he forgot to bring the receipt at time of purchase). It has 151K miles. All highway, AHC and very clean.

While searching for mine, I found an 09' for $27k that had 170k miles. It looked good but was just too far out of my price range. All in Central CA
