Ran to Galveston for the 3 day weekend. Drove 600 miles over night Thursday for a beach breakfast.

Cruised home Sunday.

1300 miles round trip. About 110 gallons of fuel. Zero issues. Still the most comfortable rig I own. I spent 16 hours in it Sunday and walked away comfortable.

checked the dB levels.. 70dB at 75mph with Mickey Thompson MT

10am today I get a message from the wife. Let’s take the kids camping this weekend.

Me- um. Nothing is even remotely ready. Roof tent is in storage, trailer hasn’t moved in two months

So I get home about 7 pm tonight, play with the kids for a bit, and start in.

Still have to load the trailer with gear but here we are headed to north west Arkansas in the morning.

Almost a 500 mile weekend and never more than a few hours from home. Wondered around the Jasper AR area and got rained on. A lot.

Saturday we decided to setup at an actual campground near the Buffalo River. Rain was forecasted and we knew that going in. Rain turned into thunderstorms and dumping rain for about an hour. Basically everything was wet and it was a semi disaster. To the point we decided to pack up and just go home.

Also treated with a double rainbow before we left. The swimming hole of a campground.

After about 30 minutes of driving we decided to give it a go and go to a site I had marked on my Gaia. All I had marked was camp spot in the woods. It was pitch black, rough two track forest road. But the camp spot was there and it worked for the night. Get the kids settled in and asleep. Storms all night.

Wake up Sunday under the cover of trees that could have blown down at any point during the night. At least little man was happy for his first night in the tent.

We decided to find sunshine and make breakfast. After finishing the two track we crossed the headwaters of the Buffalo and found a campground to park at and use the picnic tables and let some things air out. This was great. Breakfast. Sunshine. Coffee. Camp host was super nice guy. Just what we needed to reset.

after breakfast Sunday we decided to go back to some stomping grounds we had never camped at. Paid the govt some money and setup with a picnic table and fire pit. Camp was setup at 1:30pm. New record for myself. It’s usually dark 30 and then some.

Swam, ate. Chilled. Fire and marshmallows. Great Sunday.

It even rained some more in the night and no one knew it. Nice gentle good sleep rain.

The rigs are cool, but the experiences are the shizz. Good work sticking it out. Great pics.

For the last couple months I’ve been having Random transmission death codes. It’s finally giving me drive ability issues.

I bought a trans filter. Gaskets and fluid hoping to bandaid it. Still have yet to install.

Might just bite the bullet and order a transmission. This thing isn’t going anywhere and a transmission is cheap in the grand scheme of things.

Somewhere around 285,000 odometer miles and ready for another oil change and 5 tire rotate.

But hey it still cleans up nice.

Not sure the codes you’re getting but speaking from experience fluid is probably a waste of $

If it’s p2712 I might check fluid level first and make sure it’s not low.

285k isn’t bad for a transmission replacement. These trucks are solid but we also modify them and that has an impact on wear.

That code sounds right.

Fluid level will be my first step. Just need to get it on a lift and the skid plates off.

If it’s full I think it’s time to spend money

Sadly I’d agree. On the plus side a reman transmission is half the cost of an engine. Sorry though, I felt your pain at 175k, and when my gave up the ghost I was 1000 miles from home

Thankfully I get wholesale pricing and have an Indy shop so I will install for no cost other than my time.

It’s more of an inconvenience than anything. True first world problem.

Next time I’m in Colorado and blow a transmission I’m coming by your place 🤣

These transmissions are fairly robust and it could be just the solenoids and/or the valvebody that could solve the issue. Case and point, we replaced one on a vehicle at 150k miles with a refurbished valvebody that included solenoids from ebay, for under $200. Reused 50% original and added 50% new fluid. Over 10k miles later no issues.
