YouTube - Swimming LJ78

LJ/KZJ 78s are are very capable and have a great ride.

Keep prados off the high speed NA highways and keep them in the woods, trees and on the trail and you are golden many times over.

If you understand the advantages and dis-advantages. You will be golden many times over offroad... and not so many on road.

Fish old boy, winter wheeling in a LJ78 is done at speed (and get yourself a set of true ice tires for winter runs)
you will have mud in between the AC rad and the cooling rad so pull the AC and get into the front of the rad. IMPORTANT. you can not see the mud blocking the core. i would suggest you also spray from the fan side forward to get soem more.

i have put hundreds of off road km in the LJ78, they are wickedly capable, smooth but contrary to what was stated before, if you work the 2LTE hard in the snow you can over heat them and crack the heads...ask me how i know.

cool puddle run. you shoudl hook up with the Rocky Mountain Land Cruiser club in Calgary... good bunch of guys.

yeah, we shot this a week before my rad went and blew a hole in itself. Coincidence? Probably not.

Getting my AC rad out of the way is definately on my list of things to do. AC has been toast since i bought the truck, so its not really doing much up there...

on my off road LJ, i removed the AC, freed up some serious engine bay space, removed the splash sheilds from around the engine to increase air flow, it worked, removed the egr pipe and installed plate, increased the boost to 14 psi as well as the fuel maxing for 1200F preturbo. i also installed the expanded metal for Alberta wheeling so as not to get a branch throgh the new rad.
2 1/2 dobbinson lift (WAY better than the OME (or Dakar) i installed on the other wheeling LJ), wicked ride
ice tires and momentum and that little LJ would out perform the bigger rigs in the snow EASILY

thanks for posting the vids, i wish i could figure out how to post vids, i have a few of the old LJ on a winter run... everytime i watch it i get the giggles.

Not to turn this into another " how to make your 2LTE run longer"
talk, but I also pulled my A/C rad out. It ran about the same temp in normal driving conditions, but was more resistant to heating up when you had your foot in it!

Nice vid.

Ya I must admit I do miss the prado in snow compared to the 74 SUA because the springs drag

McLean Creek is good for one thing, and one thing only...busting up your truck. Fischer east is fill with tank traps that even stopped Straubs old BJ60 on 53" tires and unimog axles....
