Hey guys.

The local Land Cruiser buyers are very conservative and nobody messes with bigger tyres....I come from the Jeep side of things so my brain is automatically "WHATS THE BIGGEST TYRES I CAN FIT!!" 🙈 🙈 So I come here to find out
A set of FJ rims, already with 285/70's fitted has come up for a good price on Facebook marketplace and Im thinking of trying the setup. If its terrible I guess I can sell the tyres and get some 265/70's.

My understanding is that the FJ rims have a slightly lower offset (by like 10mm or so) allowing the 285's to clear the UCA. Correct? I havent lifted yet, but I have fooled the rear air suspension to sit a little higher.
I don't want to go to very low offset wheels because of the scrub radius.

I am slightly worried about the already long gearing getting even longer but many people say it's fine on the V6.

Thoughts?

Google tells me the stock 17" FJ wheels have +15mm offset
Google tells me stock 460 wheels are either +25mm or +52mm depending on the wheel/source

Either way, if I had to guess you'll have to do some trimming on the fender liner / front bumper

Can't attest to the V6 as it feels in the 150 but I had a V6 '05 4Runner on 34"s with heavyheavyheavy 16 "steelies and it was fine (given you keep your expectations appropriate), would still happily roll at 70-75 MPH

Yeh I think the stock Prado rims are ET25 so Id be gaining 10mm clearance...and adding 10mm inside because of the 285 tyre. So in theory it won't be a problem.

But I know how these theories go

I run 285-75r17 on +25 wheels. The +10 has a larger scrub radius and would force me to downsize tires.

I run FJ cruiser steelies on both our trucks.

I was pretty sure FJ steelies were +15 offset? ChatGPT seems to agree.
I own 10 of them. They have a +25 marked on them.

Apologies, the internet and AI are wrong.
Yep. Agree. Thats not the most effective scenario for AI use. You have to be able to validate that. Its part of the process.

When I use my work AI to write a resume j am back and forth with it dor 4-5 hours.

Its worth, the outcome is amazing and it's steered towards and individual.

Single question answer scenarios are the highest likelihood tor hallucination as it basically just guesses anything it doesn't know.

AFAIK the only oem toyota wheels that are not +25 are some of the TRD Pro wheels

I get it. I work in that realm.

I will say, I have run 2 different sets of 285 70r17s a set of 33x10.5R17s and a set of 285-75r17 on those steelies.

Both my UCAs have polished spots from rub, but I never see any marks on the tire.

If I jump to 315-70R17 Hakkipilettas I will need a rim thats closer to 0 offset.

Considering you found them on Facebook Marketplace, I assume you'll be picking them up in person and not having them shipped to you.
If that's the case, grab a floor jack (preferably an easy rolling hydraulic jack), drive over to the buyer and ask if you can mount on tire on one of your front corners.
When mounted, start your rig and turn your steering wheel lock-to-lock.
No rubbing, you're golden, pay the guy and drive away happy.
Rubbing, say, "Thank you, but no thank you." No harm, no foul, just the gas/time spent getting there.
If you go with these rims, be aware of the type of lug nuts you use, steelies may be different that the nuts for your forged factory wheels.
Good luck!

Correct The 2021+ TRD PRO 4R wheels are 4mm offset

Purchased mine during a Black Friday deal a couple of years ago from a Toyota Dealer in Pa. with a great discount, no tax with free shipping.

Take offs should be out there at a good price although I'm very pleased with mine and if I owned a T4R Pro with them I'd be keeping them.

After more than a year of training an AI app went live on the first and have auto indexed more than 3 million ad hoc outside documents this month so far. As of this morning. With validation from interfaces and several databases. Accuracy is good, finally, and there is little room for error in their indexing. On the other hand using AI on a patient chart to provide a Doctor with a summary before entering the room to meet a patient comes with a warning to the provider, and rightfully so. AI hallucination is not something they want to hear about for some reason....

My DC days go back to Vines, token ring and pinning out serial cables until your fingers bled :frown: Early last year passed my Full Retirement Age and the thought to start drawing SS while still working didn't occur to me until it did. Get my first SS check 2 weeks from today, or so they say.

I'm the Technical Specialist for the Clinical Documentation and Content Solutions Automation (AI) Team. The old guy they keep in the basement to architect and implement solutions. Best gig yet.

I feel your pain. I was a cabler in the trades before jumping over to critical environments.

I'm still not so sure. I own one as well, and this doesn't look over an inch inset from the normal wheels. The other wheels are x8.5-8 and I don't think a 285/70 will clear the front upper control arm on a +25, given that's the stock offset.

Also the same listing has an offset of +15. That's not to say that those in particular aren't +25, but yeah. 17 Inch 6 Lug Steel Wheel For Toyota Fj Cruiser WE40596T | eBay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/364058247855

This would not be the first time I died on the wrong hill.

I get light rub on braking.

I see the 17x7s being 14mm but I have the 7.5s.

Thanks for confirming!

Wonder what the +25's are from?

I couldn't find the offset mark. I will check again this weekend. Still sore AF from the accident.
