Being RHD, I think I would look for a 70 series power steering box out of Japan or Canada. Your typical USA options won't easily apply to a RHD model.....so look for either a RHD 60 or 70 series box, then search threads on that type of conversion. Yours will be the same, but mirrored.

I've seen a few rhd power steering gearboxes for sale...

check www.ebay.com/au (the ebay austrailia site) I've seen a couple rhd boxes for sale for around $3-6 hundred Oz Dollars. Not sure what that amounts to with shipping for Canadian or US Dollars. At least there's another option if you're willing to wait for one to pop up.

thanks for the help... i'll let you know how it turns out

There are saginaw boxes that mount to the other side of the frame... I haven't paid much attention to them, but they should be workable. I'll see what's out in the back yard some time soon.

As for hooking up a pump you can mount a Toyota pump or a Saginaw pump.

The stock crank pulley can be slightly modified to accept a 22RE water pump pulley, then drill and tap to bolt it in place. Make sure it's centred properly...

My 1981 BJ42 has been running Saginaw PS for probably 12 years now... and it's great!
