Do the fuel filter while you’re in there. Do the starter and might as well do the PHH. FWIW

PHH was done the fist month I owned it.;)

I stabbed my fingertips about one thousand times with my picks. If you haven't done a front axle breather, it's right there too.

PSP and PSG are resealed and assembled back on rig. Yeah! Good to go for another 200K.
Now, Step 6; maybe...no, most definitely, more then one. I'll wipe down all the tools and pick up during steps 6alpha, beta and charlie.
Today was the first day it hasn't rained in a week. Took it all apart last weekend. Had everything cleaned and resealed by Tuesday evening and put it all back together today. Buddy came over to rotate the tires on his Tundra, I roped him into helping me reassemble the PS system.

Note: putting a little moly grease on the return line fittings and wiping it in the ends of the hoses helps get them down over the barbs a WHOLE lot better than wiping them with ATF. Why Moly grease, because its already in the system on the sector shaft gears, therefore its not a contaminant.
Getting those return lines pulled down onto the paper clip tubes about kicked my a$$.

Try it with Braided Hose. The veins were sticking out on my neck and I think a little blood shot out from my eyes before I got them all the way on. I Feel your pain.........!

It was the braided hose. My hands cramped up, need a buddy of mine to push down from the top of the engine while I was crawled under with a pair of channel locks pulling down. Tried to remove the paper clip, but without pulling the radiator that was a no go. SOB those hoses are tight!

Hear ya. OEM hose is 10 mm I.D. the braided hose I used was 3/8" so a bit smaller right off the bat. Then the fact that it doesn't stretch easily...made for one tough installation. I used a tapered punch shoved in the end I was going to attach, then used a heat gun to soften the rubber just before putting it on and it was STILL tough to do.

Mine is synthetic rubber, with a stainless braid in the center followed by nylon braiding on the outside. Tough stuff and I expect to be dead and buried before it would need replacing.
