I’m currently running 34”s with icon UCA’s and icon coil overs. I am going to up to 35”s when the time comes for new tires. Has anyone had issues with CV axles or steering components? Thanks

One of the best tire size threads on Mud. Convinced me that the 285/70R18 was the best size for my needs. Wish more tire companies made this size.

I totally agree and wish there were more in that size as well. I have 285/65/18 KO2s on our stock 08, and I definitely would have gone with 285/70/18 KO2s if that was an option.

Problem with 35s is you may want 37s

You wouldn't be the first one.
I feel like there are very few. If I had sway bar plans Id be all over it. Need to look more into what the stellar built build did.

The comparable size is 285/75R17.
Many of us have tried 35's and reverted back to 285/75 R17. It really is the Goldilocks zone for our rigs.

But every man must have his own journey, so go ahead on those 35s, and we'll be waiting here for when you return.

I’ll be going back to 285 75 r17 or 285 70 r17 when my 35x10.5r17’s wear out…not worth not having a full size spare under the car.

The 35’s are excellently damped at 33 psi though…perfect

That’s currently what I have.

Is that the only reason you are sizing back down? I have a tire carrier on the back so I can run a full size spare regardless.

The 34s vs 35s thread. Seriously.

Storage of the 35” spare is a real issue to consider.
But I have not been tempted to go down smaller again. Of course since I did 4.88 it wouldn’t be super practical anyhow.

I have a rear bumper tire carrier so that’s not an issue. I am also running 4.88 gears. That is partly why I wanted to go up to 35. My RPM’s at highway speeds are ridiculous.

What’s so ridiculous? I also have 4.88s with 285/75R17 tires. I just ran 80mph for several hours today. The highway RPMs are well below anything that creates unneeded NVH in my experience. I like pressing the accelerator at speed and not needing to downshift or even unlock the converter.

Rack, OTRE, and CVs can handle 37s just fine so to answer your original question - you’ll be fine.
