Shhhhhh!! Don't let my '06 with 96k miles on it's Amazon Aisin kit hear you. It may remember it's not real. And the next one that is about to be installed.

98-05 4.7L (non VVT). We do not need to remove valve covers, to replace cam seals.
06-07 4.7L VVT. We do need to remove valve covers and cam shafts, to replace cam seals.

I do not replace crank or cam seals, if they're not leaking. To date, the only ones I have had to replace. Are ones someone had already replaced. I've yet to see, factory installed (non VVT) cam or crank seals leak. Provided, proper working PCV system.

Great thank you for this info! I think I will just inspect the seals when I have everything apart and if I see no leaks, I will leave them be. I was under the impression I had to remove both cams completely to get to the seals.
