Ok... So I have a 3 and a 5 year old and when we go out we are finding that it's getting harder and harder because of my kids needing to find a restroom at the worse time and the worse place. (Middle of the parking lot while her sister is fast asleep and mom is not out of the Doctors office yet) Se we are thinking about buying one of these...

Amazon.com: Century 6210 5-Gallon Portable Toilet: Sports & Outdoors

Anyone have any experience with these? It would live in the back of our cruiser. Windows are tinted BLACK and privacy would not be an issue. And it would make trips alot more pleasant.

PETT Toilet. Folds up to the size of a briefcase. Individual WAAG bags make waste disposal in the nearest trash can very easy.

I'm not a fan of cassette toilets, somebody eventually has to dump them and I'm the "Go Too" guy for any thing yucky around our house. Another problem is that they sometimes leak/splash their contents on bumpy roads. This could give your truck the back of the Grey Hound bus aroma.

We have a Luggable Loo which is similar to the Pett system but more affordable. We added a large ammo can to store the used bags in during transport. You can never be to careful transporting something like that.

We've got the "luggable loo" The seat came with a 5 day earthquake preparedness kit we got & we use a cheap home depot bucket. But the problem is the smell. Mainly we used it for the kids so they would not have to go out of the tent in 30 degree temps when camping. (3 and a 5 year old)
I was also looking at the PETT toilet... And I like it but I think it's the same concept as the luggable loo but only with the addition of a tent.

Now, the reason for looking into this type of system was for convenience. It would make camping a lot easier for the misses. (She's the one that takes the girls out when nature call at 3 in the morning)

This one looks like the one we are going to have to go with. The marine version has hardware to strap down.... :hillbilly:

Amazon.com: Porta Potti 365 White/Grey/Brown: Sports & Outdoors

I've found a couple of good reviews online. So we will see.

Thanks guys.

We always keep an empty water bottle in the vehicle for my 3YO boy...

Blessed are thee for empty water bottles are plenty ....
I've got girls... And I understand that they cannot just aim for the tree trunk.

And rusty, I myself am the go-to guy. Heck, i"m the only guy in a household of 2 daughters, a wife, and a mother-n-law. I've got no problem with that because I rarely had to change diapers  or wake up in the middle of the night. So in exchange for that, I won't mind emptying it out. Besides, It's like emptying a black water tank on an RV. Or snaking the drainage lines through the clean out when the main clogs up. All in a days work. LOL

another for PETT. heck, w/ littles, you could just use the WAAG bag (which solidifies the output into an odorless clump: think kitty litter for humans).

And another one for the PETT system.
I had two of the cassette styles in the past and had them in two different tent trailers.

They are nice, but they get heavy as they fill, and also everything is going to slosh around in it when you drive.
And they do put off a smell as the contents ferment.
And emptying them is not very fun, even with the two piece systems.

With the PETT system you simply throw away the bag afterwards.

I have had a Porta Potti and a Thetford in our cuddy sport boat. It came with one built in from the factory and replacing was very simple. The Thetford is a better design and slightly smaller perfect for the back of the vehicle. I disagree there will be a sloshing issue or a smell issue. We've never had either and I think it's safe to say that being in the bow of a 65mph sport boat for summer trips is more challenging than being in a Cruiser. It lasts us 2 days and we all crap into it. Most boat owners want you to crap on land but we are a bit less tightly wound than most. I think it's a great idea for a vehicle. The marine version simply adds a tie down bracket but I can't see you bolting this into the cargo area. Just secure it with rope or whatever so it won't fall over. They're both functional designs but the Thetford has a tiny vent for the clean water in the upper section that weeps in heavy seas. I put duct tape over it on the first trip and not a drop since. Thetford is way superior in every other way. We have the smaller one that's simply a shorter version of the model referenced above.

Kackstuhloffen.jpg

Old camping chair, two hose clamps, some strapping, screws and the seatpart.

First time i took that on a trip my friends gave me laughs but after 3 days most of them came around to borrow my shovel, the roll of toilet paper and the hot chair.
Yes you can even put a bag under it if you like to take souvenirs to the next bin.;)
Coata......maybe 10$

PETT is the way to go.

if you're really budget conscious, look into getting something like the luggable-loo AND get the WAAG bags -- it's the WAAG bags that are the "secret" to the PETT system.

The only cassette toilet I'll touch is a vacuum cassette toilet, but they is a bit much for putting into a SUV... On the other hand they work very nicely and no interior smells. Originally developed for the yacht market, but now seeing use in RVs. One advantage modern ones have is very low water use.

Thanks Doug... I thought I was the only one here...

I looked at the wag bags and they look expensive! So it will cost money everytime.... I think it would be cheaper with the porta potti............ LOL! But it does not hurt to keep the lid and a 5gal bucket handy with a couple of bags.

Thanks...

Got one also. Couldn't beat the $$. It worked fine on our UP trip last summer. I took some rubber gloves for bag changing. Out of the 4 of us using it, noone complained (if they did, they would have gotten bag-changing duty).
