Jason, can you tell me how far it is center of zirk to center of zirk on those shackles? 3 inches maybe? I may need to go to 4 inches on my fj40 to modify the geometry a tad ....pimion angle, caster, etc. (they are 3 inches rear and 2 5/8 front which is weird) The previous owner did a shackle revesal on the front and they are funky, not enough clearance to the frame on the shackle. It hits upon hard suspension flex. Just tossing ideas around for now. I am thinking of paying a visit to Dave Gore toward the first of the month to have him check it out.

Tom,

These are 3-1/2" center to center.

Jason, Can't wait to see what my stock measurements are and how close
they are to what you got. The real measurement will be your new springs and
my new springs.
Wait I forgot I have 31in. tires so it will be different right?

BEFORE MEASUREMENTS

FRONT DS- 32-5/8"
FRONT PS- 32-3/4"
REAR DS- 31"
REAR PS- 31"

PRETTY DAMN GOOD ENGINEERING AND WEAR FOR 32 YEAR OLD SPRINGS!

Depends on the tire. If you are talking a BFG AT

31x 10.5 is 30.5" tall
30 x 8.5 is 29.8" tall

So subtract 1/2 the difference of the tires on the final measurements.

Thanks jason 3.5 inch are perfect. Where did you source them? I'm in the garage measuring angles etc right now

So looking forward to your install and thoughts post install. Your contributions to this forum are appreciated.

Same here, J. Thank you for investigating new solutions to old problems.

My interest is high for a grey carpet set but am looking forward to seeing your fitment photos. If your carpet guy can make moulded sets, I would definitely prefer that to sewn.

The new "showroom height" springs are installed and 114 misc. terrain miles have been put on them to get things shifting around to get good "AFTER" measurements. These measurements are with 75%- 30 x 9.5 x 15 tires with 38psi.

BEFORE MEASUREMENTS AFTER MEASUREMENTS

FRONT DS- 32-5/8" FRONT DS- 34.25"
FRONT PS- 32-3/4" FRONT PS- 34.25"
REAR DS- 31" REAR DS- 32.50"
REAR PS- 31" REAR DS- 32.625"

Overall a 1.5" lift from the 32 year old height numbers. I truly believe this is as good of an "ORIGINAL" stock ride height that I will ever see. The MAF shackles give it a 1/4" more lift over the OEM shackles. If I didn't have to use the gas axe on the rear springs, I would have went back with the OEM shackles.

I have about a 3/8" stinkbug rake, perfect IMO, looks level and I like that look. It will increase a little more with the ComeUp winch install (approx. 65#), but not by much.

Ride was REALLY SMOOTH on the interstate at 70mph and around town. Mild BLM trails were remarkably smooth and even the washboard sections were taken well.

I'm really happy with the overall install, fit and post ride so far. However, I'm not crazy about the shackles, would have preferred OEM or OME over these. VERY BULKY AND CLUMSY. Pin material is soft and the threads pulled on a couple of the pins ( pre-torque). I don't beat my shackles on. Instead I tighten the nut to pull the pins and bushings up against the plate. Then back the nut off and finish the install. The grease zerk fittings are inset into the nut and my grease gun fitting won't fit on them to initially grease or perform future maintenance. I will more than likely trash these and call Kurt for OME shackles or source some used OEM rear shackles (my fronts are in great condition to re-use)

Looks great J! Every time I see your front end it makes me shiver. Time to get on returning her back to stock form. What shocks did you go with?
