aluminum covered will work better than straight foam. you want to keep air between on the floor in case of moisture build up which will equal rot of steel.
i use the hot water tank wrap material since it cuts down on noise, insulates, easy to work with and doesn't cause rust issues.

some people use that roofing stuff tape also for vibration and sound absortion.

But dont get the bitumen as it stinks like asfalt ! the butyl roofing stuff is good from what i have heard.

I gonna make my bj73 also as quite as possible;)

3/4" is pretty thick but will sound deaden about 45%
1" will give you 60% deadening
1/2" (which i will be using) is 25% sound deadening and heat retention is a sure bonus. the stuff i will be using is heavy duty aluminum foil both sides with adhesive back. not cheap but if you just take strips of the protective backing off then it should stay in place well.
