Please note your vehicle’s model year in this poll if your coolant valley plate has leaked, or if service records indicate that this repair was completed by previous owner.

•• (Unfortunately polls here don’t allow for more than 10 response so had to combine 2019-2023)

Again, on this poll also, haven't had an issue.... yet.... I'm nearing 130k miles.

160k miles on my 2011 and no issues with the CVPL. Valve cover gaskets looking a little less than ideal though.

If you don’t see on the bell housing be sure borescope from the top.

Back side of intake manifold you might see something on camera as well as via this area

I’ve been going from F to L on the overflow about every 3 mo’s, so I assume I have a valley plate leak, but I haven’t confirmed it yet. So, I inspect the bell housing from under the car?

I really didn't want to post here because words mean things and I don't want to distort @Acrad 's poll as my experience doesn't meet those criteria. FYSA, @Acrad , I did not taint your poll(maybe that sounds worse).

To @mtnco:
I preemptively performed the valley plate reseal due to measurable fluid loss. I found no evidence of a VPL during this repair other than a weak bond of the previous sealant to the valley plate mating surfaces. I did find later that my water pump had pooped the bed instead. I am not advising that you don't do as @Acrad suggested and put that borescope everywhere, just saying that in my experience the problem was elsewhere. Photo below of my cotton candy machine.

My water pump started leaking at around 34K miles IIRC on my ‘12. It was covered by powertrain warranty though. It leaked well enough to leave a very noticeable coat on front of engine and even some seeping out from front skid.

Thanks! I need to take a look all around.

My 2010 GX has 176k and no leaks of any kind. Zip. It has had 7 owners (including me) and all maintenance has been done at Lexus (until I bought it).

It's a modern miracle.
