Alright I'm posting this for honest opinions! I've always been a land cruiser fan... I've owned 4 total, and 2 80 series cruisers currently. My wife comes to me with a picture of a 200 series shes test driven and fell in love with.... back story on the truck is this..
2011 Local vehicle, 2 owner, bought and serviced regularly at the local toyota dealer. It currently sets at 184,000 and some change miles. Over all it is immaculate inside and out and seems to be well cared for.... brand new bfg all terrains... $24,500

I just cant wrap my mind around paying 25k for a vehicle with almost 200,000 miles....

Let's here some opinions....

Your title is wrong, "talk me into this" 😆

And why would that price scare you? People are paying almost that much for 60s and 80s. And there are far fewer 200s out there. Specific to the price check the classifieds -- most recent purchase prices. That price might be fair but depends where the truck has lived. Check the "KDSS valves" if you plan to lift it. They are probably stuck, and you can negotiate more on price.

...that originally cost 80k+ and will go double that distance without a second thought if well cared for?

Even more important than miles is the kind of miles on it. Highway vs City. Some popular YouTube mechanics, including Scotty Kilmer, say 4 highway miles is about equivalent to 1 city mile as far as engine/transmission wear is concerned.

I just payed $26k for a 2008 with 115,000 mi 3 weeks ago, I feel your pain. We really wanted a 2013 but the 13s I found were $38K + for one with close to 100K on the odometer. My wife really wanted the Magnetic Grey, so this one was it. I had to drive 9+ hours to trade in our 06 Sequoia. That being said this truck is light years ahead of that first gen Sequoia and I don't regret it all so far, Im really taking a liking to it. I had buddy hop in it with me while I was waiting on my kiddo at soccer practice and he didn't believe me when I told him it was an 2008, he figured it was brand new.

I specifically avoid vehicles from urban areas when purchasing a used vehicle. I'd rather have 60k mostly highway miles than 60k stop and go miles (on bad roads with bad parking), for the same price.

I bought a 2015 with 112K mi for $33K and felt I had found the holy grail. Like I told my friend who was hemming and hawing over a MB 560SL for $21K, "if you dont buy it, I will."

On a more serious side, are you prepared to do some tinkering or pay to have any neglected maintenance done? How many miles will your wife be putting on it? I'd think if you/she doesn't run it into the ground and put a lot of miles on it, you'll always get your money back.

$85K price tag and low sales numbers puts the LC into a pretty exclusive category. Unlike a lot of expensive, semi-exotic cars (Rolls, Bentley, Aston, etc. , its a Toyota and can always be serviced. Not much down side at 24.5K imo

I certainly wouldn't do it, but then I'm a cheapskate. It never ceases to amaze me at how many miles Cruisers can accumulate in the US, in a hurry. Good gawd that's a lot of freeway driving!

Your wife wants it to drive around for herself? She must be like a coworker of mine who feels more secure in a big rig. Well, if you can afford it then what the hell? This is obviously the wrong place to be talked out of it....
