These look great, and they appear to match pretty well. DO you have a profile picture? What brand did you use because I am afraid if I go with grey it will contract or look off. May go black but like what you have.do it, it'll look way better! The S is super easy to work with and if ya don't like it just pull it off...

Only 5 months!? What kind of prep did you do? How many coats did you put on?Mine in black, this was done on April 3rd and I just had to redo the wheels. I had been on a half-dozen weekend trips, plus took the truck through the car-wash almost weekly since. I'll say that getting the black plastidip off completely was a PIA.
That said I still did it again... guess I'm a sucker... that and the original rims were a bit ugly since I buffed them out a bit the first time. I went w/ "gray" this last time, also "gray-ed out" the front grill, side panels, and rear emblems. I love the grill, not sure I like the gray w/ the silver on the rest of the vehicle though. Will probably go back to black next time. Apparently I didn't take photos of the gray plastidip and I just got back from Mammoth so the truck is filthy. I'll try and get some better pics when I get to the carwash.
Yikes, hows your paint holding up? In my experience, drive-thru car washes are either too harsh on a vehicle, leaving scratches in the paint, (and ripping off roof rack trim pieces on the 100 series) or they don't clean well enough and you end up having to go back afterwards by hand anyway. Hand wash only for my baby with Mothers Carnauba Wash. Smells like bananas and coconuts, mmmmmthere's a car wash called Soapy Joe's, $20 for monthly membership with unlimited washes, so like I said I take mine at least once a week.
Mogwai's experience with plasti dip seems to be the exception, its really surprisingly durable. I sprayed half my 62 with it, and have dragged the back end along boulders and it scrapes off there, but doesnt continue to peel. No prep work besides washing the vehicle before hand.Get them powder coated in anthracite grey. I had anthracite gray powder coat applied to my OE 100 series wheels and I am very happy with them. $360 for 4 wheels, but it is very durable and permanent compared to plasti dip. Looks better too. I recommend having a powder coat baked on as a permanent solution. The powder coat looks much better than, and does not rub off like, plasti dip.
Ah, gotcha! That definitely makes sense. My wife's offroading mainly consists of bashing curbs in parking lots...Your wife take that DD off-road? I do about every other weekend. Once you get a scrape, be it a rock or whatever its really tough to repair once it starts to peel. You can try and cut into it, to make a fresh break to re-coat but I tried that too and it just didn't look right. I could tell where the repair was and didn't like it one bit. I actually think pasti-dipping wheels on a $45k truck is a bit of a sham but hey... until these KO2s need replacing I won't be replacing my wheels. And it's not worth powder coating the factory rims when I won't end up keeping them anyway.
But to your question... I fine sanded every wheel to remove the factory clear coat. Then cleaned and greased each wheel. Used 1 can per wheel = 5 or 6 coats at least. I did NOT do the clear coat (on purpose).
I'd be curious how long it lasted for others who don't just cruise to the mall!
