Sorry for my BAD ENGLISH... Was the winner...

I would imagine the hand out the window is to feel for water at that height as they can not see. My question is would he cut the engine or gun it?
You got to love diesels

Unfortunately NO diesels :crybaby: , all of them are gas. Toyota doesn´t assemble or import diesels in this country. (There are some but were imported privately).

All of the people who attend the fun race are a bunch of extreme nuts (including my nephew), most of them spend all their savings and preping their rigs for months before each race. And after the race you will find them breaking their saving box for spare change to fix or replace what´s bent, broke or missing :D

The smart asses usually got team sponsors with loaded pockets to fund all this madness which happens several times a year all around the country and the organizers usually don´t repeat the same course next year.

Judging from the huge amounts of beer drinked at each nightly party, for some racers it doesn´t matter (or remember) who was the winner, that´s why you will find so many pictures and website links

Now I hope you understand why it´s called FUN RACE:cheers:

Epale veneco, que mas? Otro Venezolano aqui en MD.

Alvaro's pics are great. These trucks are really built and abused in Venezuela, ever since I was a little kid I have been around 60's. I have traveled all over the country in my cousin's black 60. There are many places to take your trucks, and a lot of the best beaches, mountain passes, rivers, etc. can only be accessed by large 4x4 vehicles. Even just outside of Caracas you can let your 4x4 stretch her legs. This is a picture of the mountain range "El Avila" which is north of Caracas. You can drive to the top to a little town called Galipan for a day trip. I have hiked 2 of 3 peaks to the top, when you get to the ridge line you see the Carribean Ocean on one side and Caracas on the other. This picture was taken in the middle of Caracas. You can see how accessible the mountain is.

In Venezuela the FJ70 is called the "Machito", the 80 is called the "Burbuja" or bubble....the funny thing is that back in the day when the Izusu Samurai was introduced in the country, everyone associated any SUV with the Samurai name. So now a lot of people just call all SUVs including 80's "Samurai".

AFIK there are many places which can only be accesed with the FJ-40 / FJ-70 short body series because the 80 and even the 60 are too wide and large.

Small 4X4´s as the Suzuki Jimny, Daihatsu Terios, etc, are more common in Europe were gas is very expensive, but here were the off road tracks are digged by 285/75-16 and up tires this mini 4x4 barely can make it.:crybaby:

I was listening to a segment on NPR the other day that said that over 1 million Venezuelans have left the country in the last 8 year.

Keep counting, unfortunately this year you will see it raising a lot.:frown:

Changing this depresing subject, did you knew that the locally manufactured TNT bull bars are the oficial provider for the Toyota 50 aniversary edition FJ-71 bull bar/ winch equiped.

As a former TJM / ARB dealer I was quite surprised at it

This bull bar is beautifull, superb welding and excelent painting job :grinpimp:

Something inspired on it but for the 80 series could be interesting to sell in the states and I bet it should be way cheaper for you because this factory lower labor costs ?

Yes... they won...! With the rally bumper, but not everybody likes them... Have problems... They broke in the center if you pull high with a BIG winch... In the specials events I see how it's works. I prefer BT bumpers... or ARB... But the problem of the ARB in Venezuela is the attack angle.
