Wife has been considering a number of cars to replace our aging 2006 Ford Expedition as our family hauler. She has been bouncing around going from a new 4runner Limited initially to wanting something as large as the Expedition (Escalade, LX570, GL450) to finally agreeing that a new GX460 is the smartest buy. Realized that the Caddilac's truck area was terrible due to third row that sticks up past floor, Mercedes was terribly unreliable to keep for long haul and the LX570 was only marginally larger (when she realized we could have a new GX for the price of an LX she jumped at the idea!).

We had our local dealership source a Nebular Gray with Black interior'd car. The car will have Navigation and Lane Tracking systems. Originally was disapointed that it wouldnt have heated seats or back up sensors but wife doesnt ever use the heated seats in our other cars and with a backup camera she figured back up sensors wouldnt be needed. Being a 2015 model, the dealer slashed $3500 off sticker right away. I'm assuming I'll be able to sweeten that deal tomorrow when I go in to talk over the details.

Was also interested in remote start and dealer said they would fit the system to the truck at cost if we were interested.

Really looking forward to owning one of these rigs finally! I'll be taking over driving the Expedition until it pops then the plan has always been to replace it with either a 100 or 200 series LC.

I'll post pics when we take delivery of the truck mid week!

To give you an idea, I paid $52k for premium with heated/ventilated seats, heated second row seats, 3-zone climate control, backup cam, nav, Blind spot monitor system, F-sport wheels, basically everything you can get on a GX except AVS and power folding third row. I believe I got a good deal. Expect to spend another $25-30k for a new 200

I took delivery 3 weeks ago in Northern VA. The dealership is Pohanka Lexus in Chantilly VA. I've bought a lot of vehicles in my lifetime and this was the best experience by far. I have no affiliation with Pohanka and don't know anyone who works there. 2015 models are slim pickings so late in a model year. Most stock available will be high end premium and luxury models. You should be able to get these for a good deal. My truck was sourced from a dealership in Dallas Texas

Ended up with a 2016 GX460 after all three of the Nebular Gray 2015 cars were sold off before the transfers could take place.

Car was delivered with 5 miles on the odometer.

Blind Spot Detection
Navigation
Trailer package
Glass Break Sensors
Chrome Exhaust Tip
All Weather and Carpet Mats

Wife is thrilled! So am I. Its smooth and quiet and has plenty of power.

I figure I'll change the oil every 5K miles and get a clear bra installed this week or beginning of next. Anything else I should keep up on past what the manufacturer suggests? Theres a Toyota/Lexus specialist 5 min from home that will be doing most of the maintenance. Dealership offers free car washes for cars purchased from them so it looks like I just saved $40 per car wash haha

It would be a good idea to have differential gear oil monitored, I was very surprised at metal contamination in the front differential! I'm on a self imposed mission of changing gear lube evert year for the front and every two years for rear differentials on my cruisers.
I have decided that 5K motor oil change is about right.
Enjoy GX 460
Run it like ya want have fun, it can handel it.

The Toyota synthetic 0w20 for these trucks is a 10k mile oil change interval. If you want to flush the first 5k oil, I get that, but after that why bother. The new synthetics are solid, and Toyota is pretty conservative in most cases. If they say 10k, I trust them. You can consider changing your frequency to every 5k after the odometer hits 100k miles.

Or if you're still concerned, run 10k miles on the second round of oil and then send it off to Blackstone to see what they say.

Great call. I hope your Expedition dies soon so you can get your LC.

Toyota...10k mile oil change interval.

This is what I've been following and it comes out looking pretty good (specifically, compared to an Gen III GM "LS" engine that I change every 3K...I won't compare it to diesels). I haven't sent it out for testing, but I'd certainly be curious to hear if someone did!

I was surprised to see rear diff fluid on the 60K service; sounds like Redmud FJ is onto something with his diff fluid schedule, so I'll probably swap front fluid at the same time when that comes up.

I thought ventilated / heated seats were standard in the front since 2010. You needed premium package to get heated seats in the back.

I believe you're right. I have a 2011 Premium and the window sticker has heated/ventilated as standard and heated second row as Premium.

I went out to a MB dealer in Orange county to buy a new ML Bluetec with the on-off road package, and saw this on the lot... 2012 Premium with the Sport Appearance package, 37k miles..

needless to say I didn't buy the Benz.

My nearest dealer is Bell Lexus in North Scottsdale, I went there yesterday for my first service... I have heard a lot about Lexus service, I have to say it is in no way exaggerated. Both the facility (owner's lounge including coffee bar and lunch service) and the service writers were exceptional.
One thing I had a criticism about is the 60 series road oriented tires, they really don't seem to fill up the wheel wells, so I installed some 65 series Geolanders. Much nicer.

Congrats - I picked up 2015 GX luxury for the wife back in July and she absolutely LOVES it. It's fun to drive, very comfortable - like a 'tighter' version of my 03 LC.

Its been 6 months and the truck still impresses us daily! We're at about 9k miles currently and very happy with our purchase decision. Expedition keeps throwing me catalytic converter codes but otherwise runs like a top so we'll see how much longer it'll last. Its at 160K currently and i'm hoping it'll make it to 200k.

Logged on here to see if anyone out there has lifted their facelifted truck yet. Cant stop thinking about messing with it but wife would, of course, kill me. hahahaha

Up to 20K miles as of this week! Truck is still running like a champ. Unfortunately so is my Expedition LOL

Looking to install some fog lights on the GX as it didnt come with them from the factory and our area gets some decent fog from time to time. Any suggestions?

I'd go with the original housings and upgrade to some high lumen LED bulbs like BPS or XtremeVision ones. Changing the OEM halogen fogs to LEDS made a night and day difference.
