I picked this 1fz-fe today $150

Looks in good shape.
But it's going to get pulled down and overhauled.
My power goal is 450 whp with a 2nd tune of 550whp.

Did you grab the Prescott motor?
No, I asked RockJock82 for one from one of his V8 swaps. I have a long-block minus accessories...

I just spoke to CBT today and will have them start putting together a sales order for ALL the parts so I can get an estimate of parts costs at mud/internet pricing.

What is the plan for overbore? I have been going back and forth on just re-honing because the cylinder walls look good. Had thought about going the 4.6 route but that adds a layer of complexity...

Subscribed and looking forward. I'm intrigued by this engine being turbo'd and intercooled.

Budgets are for wives.
Where we are going. We don't need wives..

Honestly it's impossible to have a set budget.
You just have to jump both feet in. Or don't do it.
The 1st part is to get lc back up and running. When I can drive it while I build this engine.
Then I'm laying out a build plan on how I think the turbo system will work inside the lc.
Then I'll order parts I need.

But the key is having a simple kit with quality parts.
The 3 challenges.
Ecu (poking around one now)
Manifold
Fmic (and how I want the piping to lay)

The manifold is the only thing I can't make.
And there is different styles, materials and locations. So each brings their own set of issues.

Use Brett at Racers Edge in Tucson for your machine and head work. He did a nice job porting and polishing on Mekaela's 1fz head.

Is it done yet?!

Well this $150 motor is in perfect shape. And looks brand new. Like it was from a low milage roll over or something.
Once I get my Subaru motor back into the car today. I'll have the 1FZ on the engine stand and start the tear down. I pulled the valve cover last night. And did a leak down and numbers for less then 2-3% Cams had zero wear on them.

I hope to have the motor striped and getting hot tanked by tuesday.

Whats the plan for the oil pump idler gear bearing that dissolves if the block is hot-tanked? Are you replacing it?

I have a guy that can machine you a new bearing. He made his own when the machine shop toasted his. He's a mechanical engineer so he's legit

I still can't get over this engine in great running condition only cost you $150.

Well done sir
